He won’t get it. The fact that he is quoting 2007 gdp figures thinking China is a country beset with deep poverty is proof that he doesn’t get it. The reality is that in that time, European countries like Greece have stayed more or less the same. They might’ve gotten a little poorer but overall it’s the same. But in that same time, China’s wealth has quadrupled, extreme poverty has been completely eradicated, over thirty Chinese metros have built massive subway systems, several that are now as big or bigger than the New York subway and China has built 70% of the world’s high speed rail lines that have transformed the entire country. Unless he has seen it with his own eyes, he won’t believe it.
