Japan can't rise when it's population is decling, it's people are getting weak, it's economy is growing, but not growing enough.

The only countries that are truly rising at the moment are China, Brazil, and to some degree India.

Japan is what the US will be a decade or two from now; old, broke, and not strong enough.

Russia is much like Japan population wise. And they won't be going back to Afghanistan ever. The "Stan" countries are among the most unknown nations in the world. Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, etc. They have never been important on the world stage in the past two centuries.
