The Murder of Osama Bin Laden. U S Pakistan Partners in Crime Seymour Hersh

You'd pretty much have to leave Pakistan after that. You've just dropped the dime on their hero, there's no hanging around in Pakistan after that. .

Because living in Pak would have become dangerous from then on.

Yes..yes..yes..I can fully understand wanting to leave the country.
But why move to Washington DC and become a consultant???
You think they are going to pay you $1M a year for that?

If somebody gave me the $25M to rat him out I'd take it say "thanks for the cash...see you later" and get on a plane and live anonymously.

Why do you think someone else will want what you want? Some people like to keep working and don't like to stay idle.

If people have this consensus that you will be a "targeted" person why live/work in the high profile Washington DC area? Wouldn't you want to "disappear" so you don't get ambushed one day?
(I'd put the US Government on the ambusher list too)

Here's something to think about. If the truth had come out that you were hiding Bin Ladin, do you know what the people here would have wanted the U.S. President to do to Pakistan?
Most American people do actually believe that Pakistan was hiding OBL and they really are full of hatred of Pakistan, just go to any Yahoo news article on muslims or Pakistan and read their comments. But honestly, there is nothing US can do to Pakistan except sanctions that too outside UN, American people don't always get their wishes.

That's a valid point but we don't know if he is working under his real name or is under WP. Secondly, his name hasn't been leaked to the press or anything so he is safe. I don't think ISI will go for him in USA.

The year 2020
US: Hey Pakistan we need you to do this important thing.
Pakistan: Ok, sure, but give us the name of that informant.
US: Well we can't do that.
Pakistan: Oh well guess we can't help you with that problem
US: Okay...his name is X.....but officially we didn't tell you that.

Later on a Washington DC street....a "random" shooting of some "nobody" gets a two sentence blurb deep on the back page of the local newspaper.

That's why I would take the money and RUN

I am sure the informant knew the risks when he decided to sleep with the devil. After all Seymour Hersh claims in this article that Shakil Afridi's information was willingly given by CIA to Pakistan even though he had nothing to do with OBL raid, he really was a CIA informant but was used for other stuff.

Maybe he knows a lot of stuff/ can help a lot more? Obviously someone is convinced he's worth the money? :undecided:

Its an investigative article based on the testimony of a secret high level source that had access to the absolute top rungs of power in Washington and Islamabad at the same time. Take it with a kilo of salt.
Weren't you the same guy who claimed that Obama didn't know about the OP until it happened:p:

There is another thread on this. I posted below about possible sequence of events:

1. US find out through ISI officer about presence of OBL in Pak. US confirms on the ground through Dr Afridi or any other asset
2. US debate whether or not to inform Pak. US thinks it may be too risky and detrimental to their interests by doing this Operation on their own ( what If ISI get to know of possible operation and change the location of OBL? What if Pak forces attack US forces during operation or shoot down their chopper?)
4. US confronts Pak Army and ISI chief with undeniable evidences of OBL in Pak. There is no other option with Pak army, ISI chief but to go with US.
5. Pak Army and ISI chief still debate privately how best to handle this matter. Capture or killing of OBL is certain but what is the best way?
Option 1: Pak capture/kill OBL but says CIA gave the tip.
PRO: Pak save the face in front of world. Probably get some appreciation as well.
CON: More Terrorist organization open war against Pak Army.
Option 2: Actual operation or original operation that was told
PRO: Pak can deny involvement.
CON: Huge embarrassment
6. Either way Pak goes, it is a coup for US. Option 2 will just make President Obama and team hero of the nation. They want to go that way.
7. US and Pak planners prepare the script to immaculate level. It includes pics of Obama and team looking nervous in the room.
8. Things go per script with some minor hiccups.

I'm the guy who assumed he didn't know about it until shortly before the Op was initiated.
No no, you used the words 'wheels in motion'.

And then performed a partial retreat to 'didn't know till authorisation required stage'. Ah never mind.

Should have used OBL as bargaining chip to free Pakistani prisoners in US custody such as Aafia Siddiqui. Of course, some only had their personal pockets in mind.

@MastanKhan

Don't you pin the blame on the African-American government officials blame the white Americans government officials. Obama did what he thought was politically expedient for re-election, legacy reasons, and other reasons.

By wheels in motion, I categorically remember telling you that I was talking about the stage where they were still ascertaining if it was indeed OBL within the compound. I see 3 years has still not helped you digest my argument.

Should have used OBL as bargaining chip to free Pakistani prisoners in US custody such as Aafia Siddiqui.

Aafia Siddique is a US Citizen.
