what are some of the most current modern bands out there??, or singers

depends on whether you mean highly popular, or most recent. I don't know all the bands/singers I just listen to the ones I like. some singers that aren't that popular, some are even amateurs. Even though they're not popular they have some really good songs though (see link).

I think they are the typical choices, but there are better ones out there. The problem with K-pop is they are more into pop groups and is lacking in the solo artist department. J-pop is ok, but they are kind of over shadowed by K-pop lately. I don't really follow Chinese pop and know more about canto pop although they are most rubbish in recent years.

Here is one of the classic one which I really like:

I don't follow them anymore, their lead singer died while performing in Japan years ago and they aren't the same anymore.

Jacky Cheung is another great singer who I used to follow. Great voice and has great on stage presence:

Note: The two I posted aren't modern singer or band, they have been around for decades. :azn:

There's alot of really good Chinese bands/singers. You should really take a look at Zhang Jie 张杰 he's like the prince of pop in the mainland. I think the problem is with the culture here. We aren't westernized the way Japan and SK are. Our female singers, other than Jolin Tsai, don't really dress provocatively. I'm still struggling to find a "hot" song on the level of SNSD's Mr Taxi.

I agree with Koreans not having that many single singers. But on the other hand, groups are "safe". They can reach a huge audience.

Japanese groups are still dream girls, for hardcore sex deviants. AKB48 look like they're middle school girls.

Japanization of our 90's generation?

Take a look at a new singer: Guo Shuyao 郭书瑶 - Honey

You can look for more music and post it up.

I forgot to mention some good Chinese musicians: SHE, Angela Chang, Eva Hsiao, Milk and Coffee (牛奶咖啡), Fan Fan 樊凡 .

I also have to say the Japanese music and Japanese influenced music sometimes makes me very disgusted when they put girls that look 12 on the screen as sex symbols.
