The Balance of Air power in Sub-continent considering latest inductions of Platforms / capabilities by PAF

.
The Dual Pulse motor , which was highly criticized by Indian experts when comparing BVR Propulsion case btw Meteor and PL-15 is suddenly "praised" and becomes technically astute when its used in Astra and other Indian Projects.

....Which basically confirms that SFDR & Dual Pulse both are ways - means to attain an objective with their Pros & Cons - Both have Utilisation . No system is a silver bullet on its own.

Low-to-Medium Range Air Defence System (LOMADS) under development as revealed by GIDS Road to Future

"The under development system LOMAD AD is reportedly in Prototype deployment & testing Phase with more than 5 years of investment already incurred in it. The roots linked to "SA Denel R-Umkhonto High Velocity IR Homing SAM project under Javelin " dovetails the timelines around 2017-19 era.

The subsequent development of Sub Systems and integration of latest Electronics , Guidance Systems
, Search & Track Radars, Missile Multiple Seekers, Jamming Resistance , Passive Capability , Coverage etc was done successfully as evident also in ALCM Taimor case by GIDS, which is a big development indeed.

The depicted system falls in Hisar - U or SIPER Block -I range configuration - With Striking resemblance NORINCO GAS2 derived from PL-12 Chinese Missiles.

whereas "fine tuned system" seems to inspire take-away's from using the Chinese LY-80 extensively from deployment point of view & the future growth pattern aimed towards modelling the "Turkish SIPER - Block II / III Air defense system"

- the latter With its impressive range and high-speed capabilities, the SIPER offers an effective solution for protecting airspace against aerial threats.

The system is a Fully Autonomous Self Propelled Truck Mounted Mobile Medium ranged air defense system on TEL.

The Transporter Erector Launcher (TEL) of the system consists of four tubes, providing flexibility and firepower in air defense operations.

This advanced system boasts a maximum range of 100 kilometers and is capable of achieving a maximum missile speed of Mach 5.

The Radar system is indigenous AESA TRM modules.

The capability includes Simultaneous Target engagement of 12 and hence at least one version or Battery presumably being Active Radar Homing.

----------------------------------------------------------------

The Propulsion system [Dual Pulse Rockets , Ramjets ,miniature turbofan or turbojet etc ] and other critical sub components seems to be Commercial off the shelf COTS systems , and that's the area where NESCOM, GIDS , NASTP etc need to tap / merge / join forces with Turkish industries and Pakistan's own private sector to indigenise the System to its fullest potential and open doors for future projects including Local BVR development . PAKISTAN’S DEFENCE INDUSTRY LAYS OUT AMBITIOUS FUTURE ROADMAP

QUWA May 2023

Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS), the commercial representative of multiple Pakistani state-owned defence suppliers, released its roadmap for future products.

The roadmap can be accessed from GIDS’ official website, and it contains a wide variety of potential arms ranging from, among others, new high-altitude long-endurance (HALE) unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAV), active phased-array radars, surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems, and torpedoes.

Overall, GIDS’ future roadmap ranges from improved variants of existing, mainstay solutions – such as the Fatah-series of surface-to-surface missiles (SSM) and Burq-series air-to-ground missiles (AGM) – to newly revealed systems, like the “Group 5 UCAV” or “LOMADS” SAM system.

It should be noted that GIDS itself does not develop or manufacture any of the systems it is promoting and selling. Rather, GIDS serves as the commercial wing of a conglomerate of Pakistani state-owned enterprises that specialize in defence, such as NESCOM, for example.

Basically, it is these state-owned enterprises that carry out the development and production work of GIDS’ products…

New HALE UCAVs

According to GIDS, there are two HALE UCAVs are under development: the 3,000-kg “Group 5 UCAV” and the 1,650-kg Shahpar III (also designated as “Group 4”).

The Group 5 UCAV seems to leverage twin turboprop or piston engines. The Group 5’s designers (possibly, if not likely, NESCOM) is aiming to achieve an endurance of over 35 hours and external payload in excess of 450 kg. Though it is called a UCAV, it seems that NESCOM is optimizing the Group 5 for the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) role, especially imaging-related missions…

New Air Defence Systems

GIDS also revealed multiple potential systems that may speak to the future of Pakistan’s ground-based air defence (GBAD) environment through new SAMs and radars.

First, there is a ‘LOMADS’ SAM with a range of up to 100 km and maximum engagement altitude of 20 km. According to GIDS, each of these LOMADS units would comprise of a multi-function radar and six multi-cell launchers carrying four missiles each. GIDS did not reveal the guidance and seeker details of the SAM, but it likely leverages active radar homing (ARH) like the majority of its current-day contemporaries.

GIDS also revealed an ‘E-SHORADS’ system, which it has also designated as the ‘FAAZ-SL’. The FAAZ-SL will offer a maximum range of 20-25 km and a maximum engagement altitude of 6-8 km. GIDS stated that the SAM will be truck-mounted (seemingly similar in design to the NASAMS)…

Improved Variants

Finally, GIDS has also shown that Pakistan is committed to continue developing upon the systems it already has, such as the Fatah, Azb, Burq, Zumr, and Ribat.

The Fatah-II is an evolved variant of the Fatah-I, an indigenously developed multiple launch rocket system (MLRS). Whereas the Fatah-I has a range of 140 km, the Fatah-II will improve upon it with a range of equal or more than 250 km, while also continuing to leverage the same GNSS-aided INS guidance suite…

Analysis

Overall, GIDS has revealed a relatively ambitious product roadmap. In some respects, it may have revealed a number of critical in-house programs under development across Pakistan’s state-owned enterprises.

It is unclear how far Pakistan has developed each of these systems. However, given that GIDS has revealed them to the public (and, potentially, to potential overseas buyers) could suggest that the institutes behind each of these are relatively confident about completing these projects…

I think they have already completed the work and they would reveal them one by one during defence exhibitions around the world.

The Mirage can be and should be upgraded by the lessons learned by building the JF17. The Mirage upgraded structurally and with electronics will still deliver pain and it keeps the other assets free for other tasks.

Let is go man - it is over 60 years old now. Let it go !

it's an asset that will deliver pain provided that its upgraded. An upgrade to the airframe using composite where needed. The use of Fly By Wire will enhance its flying characteristics. fly by wire alone will be a huge benefit replacing the old wire and hydraulic flying system making it easy to fly. PAF is planning to install AESA radar on it so it can carry BVR missiles. It can act as a truck carrying air to ground and air to air ammunition.

the platform that needs to be discarded is the ghastly F7.

. .
I believe its assembled by Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems in form of Kits.
Among the Major technologies, DRDO 🇮🇳 has developed the Dual Pulse Rocket Motor, Pnenumatic Actuation System, Safe and Arm for Rocket Motor.

While 🇮🇱 has developed the Missile Seeker and offcourse the MF Radar which works with the missile

I believe its assembled by Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems in form of Kits.
That's only for the Army and Air Force...
For Navy, the contract is with India's Bharat Electronics Ltd, which is the main contractor in the project

. . . .
So if the Pakistani Air Force and what have you is stronger than Indias, How come it never won any war against India? People make it sound that Pakistan won all air battles with India, how come they lost all wars then? Loosing half the country back in the day..
