What's new

Sukhoi has crashed

are u implying that india has 200 su30 mki before 2002 ? lol
No, I am implying India has been using Su30 since before 2000s, and till date had 5 crashes. They have been in recent years, after a series of trouble with engines. IAF uses them far more than Russian recommended hours, and it creates some problems.
Of the five 1 crash has been due to external debris in engine and other due to an unavoidable human error.

No where does it means:
except super fighter aircraft crash on regular basis

Rather it is one of the safest planes in IAF inventory, clocks far more hours then it is built for, still maintaining a good safety record.

I think they are going to empty the fleet like this only. Sare plane aise khatm kardenge.

Good that the pilots are safe but I seriously think there is something wrong with the training of our pilots.

I never questioned it when they were downing MiG 21s but they are now downing Sukhois and C-130Js as well.

Fourth, it looks like the display jet which means that it was one of the mid range serials.

Which was number 130...or SB130.

Thanks Oscar, the camo scheme was the exact question I had in mind.

BTW< this looks more like a controlled descent into terrain or than a thump to the ground with no control over the aircraft.

well then it is not logical
Russian recommended number is too low. India follows western standards - 250+ hours. Originally engines needed overhaul every 1000 hours, IAF had to reduce it to 700.

yes about 20 units
Original deal was signed in 96' for 40 aircrafts, to be delivered in 3 years. Successive deals were signed in later years, the second one being in 98'.

As long as human life is safe is all it matters aircraft can be replaced later no matter what the cost .

Good Observation!

Bad time to be loosing aircrafts.

Earlier IAF used to blame the govt. for not having Trainer aircraft's and older Mig 21's. I wonder who they will blame this time :coffee:
$hit happens. The IAF is not some two bit AF, they are a high tempo, high intensity fighting force who push their men and machines to the limit- the number of flight hours (in excess of 250) MKI pilots fly on their bird each year are amongst the most any fighter jock flies anywhere in the world.

Yes there may be particular lessons to learn and be applied in this case but let's all keep in mind that flying these fighter jets is an extremely, and inherently, dangerous task and risks will always be involved so let's not get carried away by such losses.

On a Technical note , what was the reason of crash , I thought twin engines are more secure then single engine fighter jets as they can land even with 1 engine functioning
