Sino-Pakistan Relations - Really Not Good as Shown

Is it a case of China betraying Pakistan or a case of Pakistani leaders, civil and military alike, way-way over selling the whole rhetoric that surrounds the Sino-Pak “friendship” to their rather emotional people, which in turn gives an emotional high to the Pakistanis.

Looking at the way the Chinese deal, which remains a very practical way of dealing with issues at hand, and the way the Pakistanis remain high on emotions, the option seems to be the second one.

The Pakistani elite has always over sold their relationships with which ever bigger power they have had cordial relations with, it was the same with the US back in times, it is the same with China, as China rises.

The general Pakistani, who is over sold on the sentiments, won’t get it till the time the national discourse gets one that is more close to reality on the whole Sino-Pak relations as they are, and till then even the “betrayals” which keep happening from time to time on part of China will be seen as no more than conspiracies hatched by others. Others of course being Indians, Americans, Israelis and their agents!

Tell this to people of Gilgit and Gwadar who have benefited greatly due to the Chinese. Having Chinese engineers devloping highways and cities and to say they are not friends? Why? Have they brought the people happiness or destruction?

Most Pakistanis feels love for China because they have not brought death or destruction to the people like the US, but tried to better the lives of the common man. It is emotion that charges Pakistanis, but not due to the sway of government. You still have a lot of ground realities to check Ajtr, and your assumptions are premature at best.

Why don't you do me and everyone else a favor and provide figures into how much China has invested into Pakistani infrastructure and economy?

Zaki is good at economic numbers and keep up to date info about it.I remember him posting those figures some 2 yrs back here.

Zaki if you happen to read this post then plz link up the old thread.i know you have complete numbers and facts on the ground.

Does it matter what the Indians think buddy?

India (by their own admission) considers us to be their enemy. In fact, India's Defence Minister said we were their number 1 enemy.

So obviously they are going to try and sabotage us anyway they can, and any advice they give will be to serve their own interests, which are counter to our own.

The Indians have even hired mercenaries to kidnap Chinese engineers within Pakistan to dislodge our relations, however the Governments of China and Pakistan are too far-sighted to fall for sabotage tactics.

Small and individual incidents like that don't matter anyway. Not in the big picture.

If the Indians are behind those incidents, then they are just wasting their time as usual.

Some people still living in 1999.

By the same logic in 1960s Pakistan approached India to jointly address the Chinese threat. Does that mean Pakistan still sees China as a threat? :azn:

India does consider china as enemy but unable to understand china. Why an eney no#1 of india helps india in war s against its friend pakistan.I'm unable to decipher this chinese riddle.

I'm not quite following with the Lal Masjid reference, but if you would like further clarification it will have to be tomorrow as it is late here, and I am sleepy.

Our intelligence reports have already confirmed of Indian meddling towards our relations with China. You would also be surprised as to who funds Uyghur extremists within China from their cozy consulates in Afghanistan.

LoL really?

Sinking to lows here?

An ally does not necessarily mean one that provides weapons for war.The friendship has gotten so many Indians into such a frenzy, that they fail to realize that our relationship is one of genuine interest, rather than one dimensional in terms of weapons deals..(cough cough India Russia).
I think you should provide the list of investment and help provided by China and what more they could have done.

Genuine interest, China see Pakistan as its gateway to Gulf. They built Gwadar and now Karakoram. See the link, the investment is where they can get access to Gulf. They needed a port and road link to Gulf. Chinese always put their nation's interest first, just like any other nation.
WHat they could

Why didn't they invested in Pakistan's education sector. They are doing pioneer research in every field/ Read their publications, journals are full of Chinese authors' research papers. I see it everyday. Why are Pakistani researchers are not working with them either in their country and your country. Shouldn't your friend provide scholarships to your students analogous to soft loans they provide.

China is the best thing that can happen to you but Pakistan is the one who has failed to use it to its maximum. You could have get state of the art research facilities with help of China but you don't. Even Iran is doing great in science and technology while Pakistan is behind them even with friend like China.

P.S. If you want to bring India and Russia, we pay them, we pay them even more the weapon is worth. At the same time they provide us with their latest research. They helped us in building our own miniaturized nuclear reactor for our SSBNs. And now we have that technology, and we no longer need them for it.

When the Indian Defence minister called China your number 1 enemy, you Indians created a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I just hope it turns out the way you expected it to.

I dont know if pakistan sees china as threat but china sure sees china as threat. If what Chinese govt. say about Xinjiang is true then sure there is fear about threats from pakistan in corridors of power of Beijing.

China asked Pakistan to take against Islamic extremists on Pakistan' soil who are helping Uigher extremists. Read news mate. Read China's media. You seriously need to read a lot.
