Should Pakistan Air Force go for J-16?

PAF is interested in J-10B for the time being ....

By 2014/15 , PAF will have 68 F-16 Block 52s , 95 JF-17 Thunders , 150 Miraages , and F-7PGs etc ... PAF will surely want to add 36 J-10Bs to this formidable line-up ....

As our primary threat of air war comes from India , these aircrafts are more than enough to defend Pakistan's airspace...Other options will be considered when the need arise...

At some stage , PAF will look for 5th generation aircraft and J-20 will be her first choice for sure...

Comared to J-21, J16 is more affordable for PAF. All the avionics, AESA radar and control system is superior to Su-30 except for the framework( PLENTY compound material used on J16 enhance the thrust to weight ration of IT). Comes agian the engine inadequacy, when should that damn problem solved?:hitwall: From the picture i could tell that it is a Chinese engine.

J-10B has seen extensive Input from PAF,and many modifications have been made on PAF's request,so for now its only J-10B in which PAF is interested.
PAF doesn't seem to like twin engine bombers, and j-16 being a twin engine wont fit the bill for PAF.But who knows, changing geo political situations may as well change PAF's needs and requirements.

"Annihilates Su30MKK2 in exercise confrontation?" Was there such an exercise?
It secret exercise just to show their superiority in making jets..
@topic : PAF would be strong enough with 70 odd f-16, 100 jf-17, 40 odd j-10s to secure their airspace.. But yeah, if they planning for some attacking roles in south asia then it is much better choice, by the way what is the cost of each of this birds ??
I hope its not more than 45-50 million USD..

the aircraft in the picture looks like a regular MKK.. or an MK2.
Moreover.. the PAF has no current need for a heavy fighter since its immediate goal to to make sure that the enemy existing on its first 100km is kept at bay. It would make sense if the PAF decides to hit back at the Southern Indian airbases by flying over the sea.. but that entails that those fighters get past a heavy CAP and ADA barrage..
Its better to take the shorter route with less warning through a dense ADGE.. rather than a longer one in which advance warning is given to enemy assets of an impending strike.

Inducting Jf17 Block's (II,III) And Hopefully J10B In Near future Looks Much More Sensible,
My Wild Guess - Paf Follows a Semi-Offensive Doctrine, So there is No Need Of having a Heavy Fighter.

Long Range Missiles will do the Job.

Maybe a stealthy bomber with lower RCS is much more appreciated.

Not required with the operatonal doctrine..
The main focus is to hit India's Keystone infrastructure that will support its Army and Airforce on the western front.
It doesnt have to be destroyed, just damaged or stopped to slow down an Indian onslaught while diplomacy is worked on.

What exactly will India think if PAF have Su-30MKK2 types of platform?

What exactly will India think if PAF have Su-30MKK2 types of platform?

1: PAF should buy a handful to use them as a part of the "aggressors" to train their pilots against the Indian flankers
2: PAF as Oscar mentioned is NOT in need for such a heavy air craft for logistical/power plant/cost to benefit ratio-reasons.
3: PAF has too much on its plate right now integration of JF-17 - F-16C/D - F-16A/B MLU MIII - ZDK-03 - MIDAS - Erieye- K-8 - J-10B, is nothing less than a pain.
4: PAF will NOT commit to any new platform for next 5 years, later who knows beyond 2018, they would have a FEW Chinese options to flick through ie J-31 - J2X if our diplomacy works maybe even J-20 variant.
5: PAF's Achilles heel is, Long range high end SAM systems which we don't have. We can smash IAF in the sky but the need of the hour is potent and reliable Air defense network.

There was once some rumours on Pakistan Navy interested in the J-11, and didn't PLAAF bring it's J-11s to exercise with PAF Mirages. ??

I agree with aeronaut. Currently we dont need any new fighters, we are busy upgrading our jf17s. Although we do need high end SAMs to compliment our fighters

PAF Mirage and PLAAF J-11 in joint exercise, PAF pilots also flew in the Chinese Fighter Jet.

Pakistan should not rely on china anymore... they have the technology (from JF 17) ... Pakistan needs to improve to meet its needs by itself.. to achieve self sufficiency.. let it take 50 years, Doesn't matter...!!!
