Great idea in theory. But this trioka has serious divergent pulls. Turkey is part of the West. Pakistan part of Sinosphere. Iran is part of nothing. Pakistan hates West. Turkey hates nothing. Iran hates everybody.

Not possible.

1. Regardless of what we think or desire, we have far more urgent priorities than nuclear armaments. These include a fully independent defense industry that is up to NATO standards. By independent, I do not only mean to sustain Turkey only, this also includes an industry that can feed Turkish presence overseas and Azerbaijan. This capability can be achieved in long term and it requires the maintenance of current defense ties with West. A nuclear program with military purposes will harm it severely.
2. Our threat perception as of today and on the foreseeable future, does not require the procurement of nuclear weapons. The threat perception of Turkey for future lies on naval power. Therefore, the programs for the last years and the future is significantly dominated by naval programs.
3. There are tactical nuclear weapons deployed in Incirlik AB, headquarters of TURAF 10th ABW and as well as USAF 39th ABW. As per the regulations, half of these weapons are fitted for the use by Turkish Air Force under NATO decision. And Turkey will remain as a member of NATO until the doomsday.

I don't think the Turks are going to like being "Sunni power". I should think they would prefer "Turkish power". The "Sunni power" appellation is for losers and ex-slaves struggling to develop their own self identity and afflicted with chronic low self esteem because of being colonial subjects.

For us religious bunch, being Muslim comes before ethnicity. We view everyone as Bani Adam (Peace Be Upon Him).

By the way, the Ottomans themselves categorised themselves as Muslims first (during the peak of their power anyway). There's a reason they changed from being an empire to the Caliphate, and sought support from other Muslim powers at that time (even though they had little in common other than Islam).

I had Turkish classmates in High School, and they seemed quite westernized to me.

One Turkish classmate told my older brother that the reason Turkey was westernized, was because otherwise their country would have never developed.

That was his argument.

I know most Turks are quite secular now a days, but that wasn't really the case prior to the Tanzimat reformation.
