I don't think the Turks are going to like being "Sunni power". I should think they would prefer "Turkish power". The "Sunni power" appellation is for losers and ex-slaves struggling to develop their own self identity and afflicted with chronic low self esteem because of being colonial subjects.

If the case was deterring USA, they need a 9,000-10,000 Km ballistic missile. Adding sanctions, Turkey and it's economy will crumble under American/wester/eastern pressure. Remember whole western block plus China and Russia voted for UNSC's resolutions against Iran and it's peaceful nuclear program.

If you could put sectarianism aside for a moment, i would offer an alliance between Islamic countries. Iran and Pakistan already possesses nuclear program, begin with this axis and feed other Muslim states, together they can tolerate economic/political sanctions.

Declaring Turkey as a "Sunni" power is opposite to what her Muslim government officially stands for!!! It's too narrow a definition and belies the ground realities!!! 20% of Turkey's population is Alevi!!! Turkey wants to be harbor for all ships from all hues and colors!!!! Why threshold? A term which indicates they can achieve operational nuclear capability in a year.

Enemy nations aren't going to wait a year, especially not when it comes to nuclear warfare.

If Turkey wants nukes (which is fair, because any country threatened by the USA should have nukes) then they should go for full capability, and announce their withdrawal from the NPT a few months before their first test.

One of the options is as suggested above. I totally agree that either you have it or you don't have ...there is no in between.
Second option is this sign a pact with an nuclear power e.g Pakistan, China.
Third option is to forge a mutual defence agreement between Pakistan - China - Turkey (plus any other friendly nation that does not have any strategic conflicts with the first three (especially Pakistan - China).

Well Turkey is signatory of the NPT treaty, meaning they cannot get nuclear weapons.

Folks always pull out of treaty did Trump not get involved in global warming treaty and pulled out
US recently also pulled out of space based nuclear weapons treaty with Russia (a bit quietly )

Turkey should do what is Best for Turkey !

I think you seriously overlook one fact. Turkey is Istanbul/Marmara region. This region dominates South Eastern Europe. Thus Turkey has and will be a European actor. It will main part of evolving architecture in Europe. The Turks began their historical march to the West thousand years ago from Cental Asia. Now they have reached their destination. The West.

Therefore they will not sever their ties from Europe. Indeed these will get stronger.
