Sell JF-17 to African countries

I was wondering why PAF doesn’t sell its entire fleet of 50 ~ 80 odd JF-17 block 1s to African countries after overhaul and upgrade of radar and avionics to block 1.5 standards. At let’s say 10 million a piece+ spares and weapons. These air forces like Congo etc. will use them for ground attack and some air defence.

this would free up resources to buy more block 3s and 4s

On the one hand we have a shortage of 4th generation planes, cannot replace more than 1 squadron a year, still hace a 100 plus legacy fighters and you want to sell your 4th generation fighter to them. What will you replace them with when your yearly output to date is 12 planes as per PAF plans and statements.
Bhai khairiyat? Can you explain the logic again in light of the information above.

"Quantity has a quality of its own" & we cannot replace the numbers that quickly cause of slow production rate!

Sell while you produce the newer blocks, it's not like they'll be sold instantly

I disagree with you assessments. The mirages will have to stay for a while till we build or acquire a twin engine heavy payload strike platform. So these can’t be replaced by block 1s

f-7pg are cheaper to fly and provide cas and point air Defense against Indian drones at a much much cheaper price point ….so no

so f-16s , mirages , if-17 block 2 and 3s are here to stay for a while. why spend in maintaining and flying the Ja-17 block 1s when we can sell them and build more if-17 block 3s


the cost of acquisition is much lower than cost of operation …. may I respectfully suggest reading an economics book or two

JF-17 Block3 and J-10C will replace F-7p /pg and most of the Mirage III/V. Maybe one squadron of Mirage will stay until 2024.

Jf-17 block 1 are more 3.5 gen than 4 , block 2 onwards are 4 gen …. So why keep jf-17 block 1 they and f-7pg are a strain on our operational budget.

There aren't as many countries capable of operating a fighter fleet as there were back in the Cold War days. You're right in that surplus Block-Is could be a great deal, I don't see DRC or other Sub-Saharan African countries being able to buy them, even for $10 mil per aircraft. IMO the biggest market for Block-Is will be private firms offering DACT services to NATO.

Congo , Botswana, Central African Republic , Sudan both of them and one day somalia, the problem is a lock of marketing and effectiveness of our foreign missions which are sitting on their asses . Most of African is run by the Chinese why doesn’t our foreign ministry not prioritize weapons sale in all parts of Africa, Eastern Europe , Sri Lanka and smaller Asian countries like combos is, Thailand etc.

Our dumb *** ambassador was sitting pretty till the Pakistanis in Hong Kong raised hell and started protesting outside the Pakistani embassy. On this the ambassador wrote a letter to the paksitani embassy in peaking now Beijing and a Pakistani was also added to the council. One fing Letter is all it took

Good luck selling anything with that attitude. By the way, Africa is made of many countries, many which have higher GDP than you country. Have some humility and stop speaking like some super power. Parts of your country have it worse than even the poorest African countries.

I thought PAF had already upgraded all/most of Block1s to Block2s, thats what i had read a few years ago

wrong. no such thing as a block 1 in PAF inventory. they all have been upgraded to block 2s and the block 2s are no cannon fodders by any attack of the imagination.
