There should be only one battle cry for us 'Allah-o-Akbar' ...Majoos calls for 'Ya Mahdi' Ya Imam, Ya this and Ya that ...!

Let me tell yu one thing, if we cant say YA Muhammad s.a.w, then how can yu expect to use YA ALI s.a ? No one is great but ALLAH.

It should be ALLAH O AKBER, 'Ya' in Muhammad s.a.w and in ALi s.a means present anywhere and everywhere which is no one but ALLAH.

It is no harm to say "YA ALI" as Khalid Bin Waleed (RA) used the battle cry as (YA Muhammad) an it is ligitimate for Wahabi's too....

one should know that the word ya is only preserved for allah as it means someone who is forever and that is only allah u should rather say ya allah for your battle cry but not ya with some human beingas u also get sin for using word ya with someones name

For me the battle cry of Ya Ali is a way to remember the bravery and steadfastness of Imam Ali when the hour arrives. It is not same as asking help. Sure we all pray to and ask help from Allah Almighty only. Saying Ya Ali is just a quick remembrance of moral and virtues of the great man to strengthen the resolve. I do not know how people make this an issue of subversion of the monotheism.

It should have been retained because it had become part of the formation's tradition, and modern armies without rich traditions are no different from a militia.

On the other hand, opponents say that the battle cry of "Ya Ali" itself was sectarian and it was a good idea to change to one that can be used by both sects.

It is not sectarian it is Haram às it tentamounts to shirk. Ali may my family be sacrificed at the dust of his feet was a slave ofAllah just like you and me. We love him a lot and in fact there are few people who are loved by the ummah as much as Ali RA after Rasool Allah SAW. This was also the tradition amongst the Sahaba e Karaam including the rightly guided khulafa e Rashideen. This is a fact accepted by all the Ummah irrespective of their sect. However just like Rasool Allah SAW, he RA also died ànd ALLAH SWT is the ever living. It is shirk to call anyone other than Allah SWT for help and Allah does not pardon shirk. When you call Ya Ali it is short for Ya Ali Madad and if you understand the conotation under which you call him you will understand why it is shirk.
The Sahaba e KARAAM used to have battle cries like Ya Ahl al Ansar. Ya Ahĺ al Muhajiroun,Ya Ahl ul Quran,but this was to raly them during war. For a muslim the only being to be called for help and victory is Allah SWT. This is islamic ABC. Calling anyone else iis tentamount to elevating his rank to that of an Ilah.

Hazarat Ali (RA) is symbol of bravery in Islam. For Muslim militaries chanting Ya Ali slogan, holds relevance and value. Yeah im not a shiite or wahabi, just a plain Muslim here.

Mujhe es baaray me pata nahi par me kisi mufti se es baray me zaroor pochunga, mera aik sawal, jo makaam ALLAH ka hay wo makaam aghar ham MUHAMMAD S.A.W ya ALI R.A ko dengy tho kya ye theek hay ? Common sense naam ki bhi aik chezz hoti ?

Why must we complicate everything.. Is it that hard to follow things as they are now... The slogans work and everyone seems comfortable with calling Allah for help.. If you have to look at this forum, you are not getting everyone to agree. Why must it be changed? what good will it do? what is wrong with how it is now?

I never asked if it should be changed or not. I am just asking everyone's opinion on what happened more than 30 years ago. Changing it now will be inviting unnecessary controversy during an already fragile time. Surely there is no problem in a healthy discussion.

Bohat ghalat hai aur shirk hojaya ga, doing so will make us non-Muslim. But no one is saying that prophet and allah have the same makaam (astaghfirullah).
