Saudi F-15 deal delayed

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - There are rumblings that the Boeing F-15 deal with Saudi Arabia is delayed.* There’s speculation the Saudis are upset with President Obama’s support of Arab Spring demonstrations or his opposition to Palestine becoming a state through U.N. approval.

“We hear the same rumblings, but to narrow it down or be able to pinpoint it, we’re up in the air about that right now.* We don’t know.* They are keeping it pretty close chested of what the reasons might be” said Aerospace Machinists president*Gordon King.

King feels the Saudis are still interested, but admits there has been a hold-up in the transfer of money.

Several hundred St. Louis jobs are tied to the 30 billion dollar F-15 deal with Saudi Arabia.

We pretty mch only lack the engine technology for it. We as saudis of course 100% cant do it on our own hell our own car engine is only slated to come in 2013 but i wish we would do it really. Hurung russian engineers to make em and to teach us how to make em won't be a bad idea if you ask me.

There is difference from building a car and a fighter plane, from what I'm hearing the Saudi's made a deal with China to trade oil so the Chinese could train your scientists and engineers from wikileaks.

Well i do know someome personelly who is in china learning Aeroscience. I wont be surprised by that. And our boys are already in the UK learning how to build the typhoon and we demanded that we will be together with british folk learning the same thing so we get exactly the same training.

I think the Saudi Military is ok however the best Arab Military is Egyptian Military, Egypt > Saudi Military, only thing Egypt Lacks is better weapons and a bigger defense budget which Saudi Arabia has.

Current Egyptian Budget is around 6-7 billion Saudi Budget is around 40 billion, Egyptians have far better soldiers then SA if they had this kind of budget then they would be a real Force, however Saudi Military is good just lacks training which you guys are improving on.

I wont be surprised by that. And our boys are already in the UK learning how to build the typhoon and we demanded that we will be together with british folk learning the same thing so we get exactly the same training.

They got American made F-16s around 200 of them I think, 1,000 M1 A1 Abram tanks

And lots of other American /European made hardware.

Plus around 2 billion USD annually in military aid and to think that their budget is only bout 6 billion.

They don’t have much oil so what, since making peace with Israel 77 the rewards from Uncle Sam have been truly generous.

Of course all that fruit is to balance out the Israelis and the Arabs in terms of strategic capability.*

Now we are improving our training, officers are only promoted and recruited on manners of merit and not because he knows somebody and any one caught doing it gets 2-5 years in jail and corruption regarding the military had a big crackdown and many arrests were made (too many infact).

Even our doctrine was rewritten in 2006.

Mostly downgraded Abram tanks, 200 f-16s ok a few others however most of their air force has old fighters from the 60's and 70's , they could not survive without the 2 billion Aid, Saudi's got better equipment then Egypt.

An American who trained the Saudi army for the first time during the 70's use to say it was like teaching kids how to use a gun, during the gulf war Saudi's turned into teens, now maybe your guys have become adults your army isn't a joke and I hear plenty of them however you guys are improving.
