I do not know about this case specifically but i general what happens in KSA is
> You come here on a visa sponsored by a local.
> You are supposed to work for him only and only
> You will not be able to retain your passport thus goes your chance to leave KSA
> You can return to your home country only and only if you have approval from the sponsor
> Now these points lead to mistreatment by locals in certain cases because the sponsors know
>> Even though we promised this labor 1200 SAR but we can pay him just 600 SAR and the labor cant do anything about it
>> We can keep them working as long as we we want continously, and they can't leave us and go back, after all it we who will issue them the exit visas.
>> I know a person who wasn't allowed to go back to Pakistan after his wife and daughter passed away in an accident. Kafeel/Sponsor said, pray for them and work for me.
>> All saudis are not like this. Such cases mostly happen in far flung areas but they also occur in cities but relatively to a lesser degree.
>> This Kafeel system leads to undue powers to the employer, similar to master slave relationship.
>> The poor workers have no option but to be exploited because mostly come to KSA by taking loans for air travel and visa costs nearly 2000 USD.
