What's new

Saudi Arabia/GCC countries still reliable allies? Pakistani government's terrible diplomacy at work.

Saudis got "convinced" by the US (see excerpt below). Only country that stood with us till the end is Turkey. Says a lot. Our foreign policy is a shambles. Until we can grow our economy, nobody will take us seriously on economic forums.

"“The US officials went out of their way to convince the Saudis, while China backed out from supporting Pakistan afterwards because the Chinese vote wouldn’t have sufficed since three votes are needed to block the move and Pakistan only had Turkey’s,” a Foreign Office official told Asia Times."

Yep said it one bro. It's time for people to look at things differently. I can just imagine the look on the Pakistani delegation's face when the GCC pulled out. It reminds me of glass breaking....

.
I've always said it from the moment I started posting online (22 years ago) that Pakistan's only friends are Turkey and China. The rest are acquaintances, nations of interest and just a hello and goodbye basis.
Yeah I heard Saudi Arabia withdrew. I am quite disappointed with them.

Guess you are right, Pakistan's only friends are China and Turkey.

. .
I think Pakistan just needs to step back, quietly work on itself and emerge a decade later as a strong nation There is a lot of internal work that has been ignored which is now biting Pakistan on the world level.

That's asking for too much.

That's the right approach. Pakistan should lay low and work hard. Good things will happen, InshAllah.

And, a little distance from Saudis who fund the extremists would help Pakistan a lot.

.
I think regardless of where you stand i.e. support Saudi, are anti or just plain neutral now is the time for serious self reflection and just what Pakistan needs to do. Let's leave the hostility out of this and just see what people think the next steps are.
Really it is time to collaborate more with turkey, Malaysia and Indonesia in turns of defence etc, all are major Muslim nations outside the gulf. Have good trade relations with Iran just like China and the USA have. For the Arabs keep neutral, train their troops as long as they pay just so that are workers sending valuable remittance from there aren't kicked.
But we really need to up the game with turkey

The Americans are not going to back off even if we decide to lay low. They are obsessed with Pakistan. They will keep bringing up Pakistan in every meeting every hour of the day. We know what the Americans want. We cannot give it to them. This confrontation will continue I am afraid. America is the problem here. It is America which invented the vote against Pakistan to begin with.

So we got betrayed by the Saudis (GCC) again. Huge surprise!

It appears Saudi Arabia double crossed us. How unfortunate.

China only backed out because two votes are not enough.

LOL!

I agree Pakistan has been way too centred on the Middle East and should have balanced its ties with all, in this case SE Asia. By the way I don't agree with training them, but that's another thread. As for the workers they get paid for a job they do.

@waz Here is the second report published today please show me Pakistan's name again.

And one more question why is this report posted on 1st FEB not being talked about.

I'm not talking about that bro, I'm discussing the events that are going to lead up to a possible placing of Pakistan on the list. It's very much on the cards and Pakistan's own representative has clearly stated this. He's actually trying to soften the blow, by saying it "won't hurt".

Yeah the training part I don't agree too but if the Arabs pay , heck why not earn money? But if our soldiers are being sent on an ' ummah ' role without being paid then might as well send them to Kashmir.
Pakistan needs south Muslim nations , turkey central Asian states to invest and co develop

@waz here is the example of fake News.

Clamp down on these groups and show the evidence to the world and no one will say a thing. I'm afraid the days of using useful idiots are long gone. The US has it's own issues to deal with and will detract after a while. It's the nature of the game bro and I've seen it played out for 26 years i.e. when I gained an understanding of what politics was.

Pakistan's representative is bullshit please read the news I posted above and see the difference.
