What's new

Russian MRCA, Chinese Sub for Bangladesh

F-7 BG, BGI or whatever else you call it, is garbage. After importing, BAF can recover some scrap metal from it, and besides, the electronics equipments can be recycled and the weapons suite onboard can be sold to the African mercenary black market. :D

Its a interceptor and will not go to enemy territory. It will be backed by ground based SAM also we have air superiority fighter. Just think of a scenario, when instead of putting one air superiority figther against another one you just throw an interceptor in it and you will win the odds. Besides it got speed and perfect for chasing.

Battle is not about only fancy toys but a combination of different capabilities. You need everything. Tank did not replace a light machine gun neither a knife.

. .
Can do well?? Can do well on what front?! Getting blown up to smithereens?

Let me sum it up $11B something FOREX budget constraints, limited budget for Armed Force and you are looking for a boomer rang. What is the annual budget of BAF, how much in funds are allocated for modernization plans.

This is a huge step to replace all basic trainers before 2020 with new basic trainers, another huge step to replace 16 L-39s with possibly Yak-130/131 dual light attack variant, again a huge step to replace A-5C Fantans and F-7MBs with F-7 BGIs what possibly could you want in these limited funds, I think the plan is pretty good starting from basic to train pilots good and keep safety the highest priority. BAF is trying to save pilots lives and trying to prepare them with BGI for the next generation Aircrafts in terms of capabilities that could be heavily upgraded Mig-29, su-30/35 or [J-10/FC-1 only if this government is replaced due to hindustani interference].

You are one of the worst idiots that always chase the golden goose but ends up becoming one that is outer reach from its peer to sound like quack, quack. Without reading, observe and analyzing mil. hardware for long enough; one shouldn't make such blanket comment. Whilst BAFers were in all praise of F-7BGS and named it poor man’s F-Sola; who were you on passing such denigrating judgment? Furthermore, F-7BGI would be an improved version of the BGS, so it would be more potent as point defensive fighter than the BGS by a fraction of previously bought, junky MIG's price. Then why is so much aversion against it?

I like the idea of training pilots with F-7 BGI for the next generation of aircrafts. But that's where its utility ends.

I'm not suggesting we buy some very expensive fancy toy with our limited budget. I just don't think our "interceptors" have a chance at intercepting the several generations more superior aircrafts our neighbors have. You can't fight a machine gun with a WWII vintage rifle, no matter how light or cost-effective it is!

With such limited budget comes the responsibility of using it wisely. If we're really that constrained, then we can save money for a few years and use the savings to get something that we could actually use during a war. E.g. Chinese versions of S-300/S-400. :)

Idiot, F-BG/BGI are usually bought for their "corruption value". Where do you see me chasing a golden goose? What do you know about BAF that I don't being an insider since birth? If you have something valuable to add, do so, else feel free to not be another crazy mullah on the loose. :P

S-300s are defensive weapons. Even India has bought a few squadrons mainly to protect Delhi and other vital assets. So even if BD buys it, its not a value add against Burma, since they hardly have a airforce worth discussing, and against India, it will simply delay the inevitable. Plus these batteries will be taken out by cruise missiles like Brahmos.

So I would say, go for a quality fighter so that you can take the fight to the enemy.

So BAF's addition in corruption value started after PAF's purchase of F-7PGs and India's upgrade of Mig-21 as Bison? Now, do you think that your birth right is sellable with a trademark of such B.S?:cheesy: Or a Bharat-Rakshakker of your type claiming an insider is synonymous to underwear having the tag of best cloth?:P Finally listen to this Ardvani, it doesn't matter how skillfully you tie the knots of your dhoti, still the daliti legs are exposed.:woot:

So by when can we expect the Song class to be in our water? Has no assumptions been mentioned anywhere?

Cheers!!!

I don't think the F-7BGI would be anything new than the F-7BG other than some mew avionics and 3 screens in the cockpit !!

Yah i am aware of that but the nose, along with some other features, of the plane are also expected to change i believe. Wanted to see a full picture of the new design. If anyone has it, please post.

Cheers!!!

Why dont you read the post #76 ? Do you expect, people will answer your same question again and again?

F-7BGI China's Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group Company F-7-based research and development of new models, equipped with improved airborne equipment, including - - - hand throttle lever, hands on the bar, control device (HOTAS) ,control device, three multi-function cockpit displays and a HUD. The machine also has the ability to use guided weapons, the use of GPS signals to transmit high-precision air-guided bombs. The machine also has GPS system for navigation bomb throwing ability due to Bangladesh's orders.

Those F-7s were ordered long before the our MMRCA deal was finalized. It was intended to replace the BAF's aging A-5Cs & f-7MBs and act as a 'stop gap'.
FC-1 and F-7BGI have almost same number(6/7/8) of hardpoints and both are BVR capable.
But, FC-1 has a little better avionics and radar.

* It is confirmed that F-7BGI is BVR capable,,,so, It will have a different looks and nose for it's new radar...
* Bangladesh have ordered PL-12/SD-10 BVR missile with F-7BGI.
* F-7BGI is the most advanced F-7 variant ever...
* F-7BGI is cheaper than FC-1...So, F-7BGI is perfect for "stop gap".
* F-7BGI is BVR capable,,,so, It will have a different looks and nose for it's new radar...

I guess BAF 's F-7BGI will look like any one of these F-7 models/variants/...

Who knows...???!!!

Probable future modernization plan of BAF
...............................................................
(some of them are confirmed and some are not)

Bangladesh Air Force will not procure the FC-1/JF-17 or J-10.
- BAF probably will procure another 16 MiG-29SMT/M1-M2 or 8 MiG-29SMT along with another 16 Su-30MK2s/SU-30MKB.
- 80% of Bangladesh Air Force combat aircraft will be supplied by the four Russian manufacturers.
- At least one squadron of Yak-130 advanced jet trainers and one squadron of Yak-152 primary trainers are being procured for the current FY. Successul flight tests were already conducted by BAF officers in Russia. Yak-152 will replace the aged PT-6 trainers.
- The Bangladesh Air Force will induct F-7BGI BVR-capable multirole fighter aircraft as a gap filler before inducting the 4+ and 4++ generation combat aircraft.
- The Bangladesh Air Force will induct C-130E/H transport aircraft soon to enhance its own airlift capabilities and support the land forces.
-6 Mi-35 Super Hind attack helicopters(will be more soon) and 3 Mi-171sh support helicopters will be inducted shortly.
-Various kinds of SAM will be procured.
-Radar and medium range air defence systems are also being procured in haste.
- Bangabandhu Aeronautical Complex is being constructed with the plan of manufacturing parts for aircraft, fully maintaining all types of aircraft locally, designing and manufacturing light aircraft, radar and communications equipment.
- The Bangladesh Air Force Academy's ultra modern Bangabandhu Complex constructed is starting too.
- The Bangladesh Air Force is currently engaged in over 100 indigenous R&D projects for manufacturing aircraft support systems, UAVs, drones, communications equipment, munitions and upgrades to existing aircraft.
- Forces Goal Vision 2030 will enable the Bangladesh Air Force to be one of the most advance outfits in the region and effectively provide a deterrent against the threats posed by neighboring countries.

Bangladesh Air Force plans to buy new fighter aircraft, and most promising candidate models, including the U.S. F-16 and Russia's MiG-29SMT/M1-M2. In addition, Sweden's JAS-39 and Russian Su-30 will also participate in the competition. BAF will also procure Mil Mi-35 Super Hind attack helicopter and Mil Mi-171SH support helicopter.

I think,,,this is going to be future BAF 's formation...

16 F-7BG
16 F-7BGI
8+16 more MiG-29SMT/M
16+ SU-30MKB
16 YAK-130
6 Mil Mi-35(will be more)
18 Mil Mi-171SH
Various kinds of SAM

NEways, why are you all calling F-7 a junk? Yet PK and China still have the biggest inventory of that junk. Its a proven platform. No doubt about it. BD did not choose it as the base for it's Air Force. Its going to buy true 4++ generation fighters in near future. Just wait and see. When we take things in our hand, we take it seriously. A simple example, BD did not consider nuclear energy before but once it did, it ordered 2000 MW plant in a single go. BD never sent satellite before but this time they are sending 2 most modern satellite at a time. We did not consider buying advanced craft for our Navy but this time we ordered a whole lot of them. We already setup "Bangabandhu Aeronautical Centre" institute and a indigenous light aircraft will be built in that within next 10 years,,,InShaAllah...

Thanks,
Regards.

I have my reservations about all these future procurements and announcements, specially seen as they are made by BAL who are known for making bombastic statements that they fail to keep up with. Look at the current electricity crisis, law and order and economy crisis. Does BAL stop making bombastic announcements though?

Putting all your eggs in one basket is never a wise idea, so purchasing major weapons systems like fighter aircrafts from mostly one country (an unreliable one like Russia) is never a good idea. For smaller weapons systems like Anti tank weapons, Grenade launchers, maybe sniper rifles, night vision scopes, UAVs, patrol boats, mine sweepers, LCTs, and so on, Bangladesh should explore avenues of cooperation with fellow Muslim brotherly countries like Egypt, Indonesia, UAE, Malaysia and so on.

Also, I would like Bangladesh to acquire some ballistic missiles from countries like China, Iran, Egypt or North Korea if possible (under the table deals, of course), whether any of these cowards at BAL will have the courage to pursue that path is another question altogether.

Edit: I wouldn't mind seeing the Bangladeshi version of the Yakhont either.

Whoever controls the military controls the nation. BAL does not have a good record with the military. So i think they will deliver what they said. Even though they did not fullfill the promises made for other sector, they did so for the military.

We have fighter planes from china as well. Where the hell did you get the fact that russia is unreliable?? They provided arms when a country needs it the most, during war and even during embargo placed on them by the US. Chinese 4th gen fighters are fine, but they are still not proven unlike Migs or Sukhois. As for exploring new avenues with other countries i am all for it.

You may call it courage, but i call it stupidity to buy ballistic missile when we dont even have a good a creditable air defence, or good anti ship missiles. We must learn how to crawl before we walk. Anyway China wont sell its missile to bangladesh yet, dealing with iran and north korea under the table will only cause the US to retaliate. Anyway egypt produces its own ballistic missile, but that does not mean they can sell them witho ut permission from other countries

That will be more than enough for our defence doctorine for now. By the way are you sure bangladesh will buy both migs and sukhois???

I think it will be wiser to go for Russia & swedish combi in the future. There will be logistical headache at first, but it will be a very effective detterence for our air force

No need for Migs i would suggest. Has already been a headache for our cash-strapped force. Su-30 should be the front runners for procurement. 16 Su-30s should be good for now but we should, in future, make it till at least 2 squadrons. Plus 32 interceptors in the form of BG and BGI should do the trick. 64 here in total. Add even 10 Yaks to that and we are good to go.

However, i always wondered why our AF never took much of an interest in attack helos. Transport ones are fine but to support infantries in battle for close support, we need some aggressive choppers. Mi-35 is definitely a bass a$$ but we could have also tried KA-52 or NH-90, though the latter one is quite costly. We should have looked to build 1-2 chopper squadrons.

@ M.H.J - I like the F-7MF design. Still eager to see what we get.

Cheers!!!
