What's new

Russia will supply 6 Mi-171 to Pakistan

. .
Just like MI35, MI171 quantity to is less.
Pakistan is already operating several dozen of these bird(MI-17 and Mi-171) already, these might be for Rangers.

Yes im about to ask same question difference of nose here
In simple terms
Every Variant has it is own sub variants which has different tasks and engines this nutshell might help you understand.
The one without nose is military version, with military avionics called Mi-8 (the firstpic you posted),Pakistan operated these but retired them after inducting its successor MI-17 It looks almost the same but has a little bulge on the chin.
MI-171 (usually) It is the civilian version of Mi-17 or Mi-8 it has nose cover which makes it look not ugly and it is built for civilian purposes
Both are operated in Large numbers by Both PAF and PAA.

Mi-8 Introduced in 1967

Mi-17 Introduced in 1982 (notice the Bulge on Chin)

I am not asking who is going to use, but yes it is a possibility that MI171 might go to the Rangers, but what I am saying is the quantity of MI171 is less, it should be more.

.

i think both r same one got air filters infront of engines no difference rest except few modification .

Maintenance is a havoc for this craft

Pakistan already operates 150+ of these so not many are needed.
It can be an initial order or because Pakistan is compensating to the few crashed in the past years.

The crashes were truly a concern for the Aviation Corps. The quantity of MI helicopters in operation with our PA is not 150+, its around 80 or bit more, as per my knowledge.

I was talking about about entire Pakistan Armed Forces not just PAA.New Mi-171 are really needed for the transport of VVIP so that they do not crash as that old chopper did in Gilgat Baltistan.

"Whatever for little extra cash under troubled condition of economy due to sanction", Russia sighed.

Then after a brief pause, she said, "but I must not cross a limit or I will lose my best customer".

Tuje mirchi lagi tou main kiya karun?

China is more important for Russia than India. Russia has grabbed you by balls. Your threatening/warning in pretext of advice is not going to work. Russia will simply disclose all your secrets to us given your most of inventory is of made in Russia. You need Russia for supplies, spares etc.

Think it of other way round. Russia under Putin is hard to blackmail. Very soon, you'll see some advanced Russian tech and yet can't do anything about it except bragging about your purchasing power and how 'Russia will lose India' kind of statement.

Now that is called entertainment. :enjoy:

.
Wait for Indians to start their jealousy diwali...fireworks will be amazing..

The Indians lost British with pride - the world most advanced nation and brag about Russia losing India..hahaha!

this always bugged me , jealous of what exactly? Pakistan is literally scratching the bottom of the barrel to keep up with the existing Indian stockpile.

Pakistan barely spends 7- 7.7 billion on its military , India spends 45-50 billion . That's easily over 6 times its budget.

Keep in mind Pakistan consumes 3.4% of its GDP in defence , while India consumes just 2.3% .

This is like saying a guy who bought a entire fire factory is jealous of the kid with a hand full of crackers .

So that's your defence ? Russia will betray India because papa China buy it for us ? lol

Russia and India have a tighter bond than whatever Pakistan can achieve , I don't see China or Russia adding you guys into BRICS. India has more to offer to Russia than Pakistan ever could , Putin knows this .

India has one of the most versatile defence market in the world , we buy from Israel , France , USA , Russia , UK etc

Hell India literally is the largest market for arms , or did you forget India has been the largest arms importer in the world for over half a decade.

We have been hearing all this non sense, maybe true, but couldn't be able to stop Russia from supplying military hardware to Pakistan. If you'll diversify your suppliers of weapons, Russia will diversify its customers. It is as simple as that. India cannot stop Russia from doing that. Ready to see more cooperation b/w Pakistan and Russia in economy and military. Do you like the drills going to held very soon b/w Pakistan and Russia. Here's the link below :enjoy:

As of the start of 2015 there have been more and more defence deals with Russia and Pakistan and each time Indian posters have reminded us that though Russia is providing you guys with equipment, it will make sure it doesn't piss of India too much.

deals are going to keep happening and these statements will keep coming out from their mouths
