There are things you should know,

1. When a currency can depreciate rapidly, it can also appreciate at the same pace.
2. When a major deal, such as this signed, the entire amount in not handed over lump sump but the over the period of the entire deal..spanning decade or more.
3. As the world economy recovers from the current depression, so will Indian economy, and INR will appreciate.
4.As deal will be signed in USD or Euro and not INR, so if one installment is paid, when exchange rate is 56 ..next installment might be paid when exchange rate is 50 or 45 ..and so on, so forth.

@OP ur Chinese brother opened the same thread earlier so that he get a good night sleep for once. There is no issue speculating. Rupee's rise & fall against the dollar is a continuous process. Just wait for some time & u will get ur answer as to Rafale deal will get through or not. AFAIK the nightmare of PLAAF & PAF - The Dassault Rafale will be soon seen in the IAF colors

because India HIGH DEBT, HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT, HIGH INFLATION, HUGE TRADE DEFICIT, HIGH FISCAL DEFICIT (Gov's expend more than income) ...terrible!! haha

As I have explained you before the deal will be signed in USD and Euro and not INR.

So fluctuations of INR will not matter, over the entire period of deal.

French will be getting the same amount, as they were suppose to get in 2011. But how much Indian will be shelling out, will depend on the exchange rate, at the time installment is paid!!

eg If an Installment of one billion dollar is paid in 2014, then how much Indians pay, will depend on INR-USD exchange at that point of time. similarly if next installment of billion dollars paid in 2015 ..then the exchange rate might be different again!!
