I am from plains of Northern India. India recently built Tihri Dam on Ganga in Uttarakhand but I never heard Uttar Pradesh and Bihar complaining because they have widespread under-ground water and ponds and rains and we don't use river water even in summer season. Really it is funny to understand India is depriving Bangladesh of its water when Bangladesh is rich in water resources.
You have lots of silly politicians who think are always in search of issues to blame each other and divert the attention of common people.
There was a time when Bangladesh was rich with water. Now, thanks to indian dams, BD is a desert during lean period. India regularly builds dam across the border and stops water from flowing into our land. Tipai was not an issue to begin with, but an unilateral decision to build that dam has made it an international issue.
India does not say about the design CRITERION of this dam. We do not know if India will retain all the water during lean season and force us a transit in exchange of water. Many such issues must be talked and resolved before BD can nod to Tipai Dam Project. Instead, India keeps on tricking us with a false and empty promise that there will be no harm to BD.
We want India to come out with all the information including planning, design and construction drawings to make us understand what India will really do. There must be a water treaty before the 1st stone is placed in the dam. We have Teesta problem on hand, India has been making false promises but is not delivering anything. Tipai must not be allowed to go that way.
You guys now perhaps truly understand why we the Bangladeshi people dislike or hate India. India believes in tricky politics. It promises somethiong that it never delivers. There are hundreds of examples like teesta or Tipai.
