Some religious Bangladeshis passionately deny everything Bengali as it's a shared culture with Hindus
they believe it undermines their Muslim identity

Some non-religious Bangladeshis who pride themselves as "secularists" and "humanists" but are actually atheists
are also busy trying to import Hindu culture as the sole Bengali culture and destroy Islam in the process
but these people are a minority and Bangladeshis don't give a damn about these people

Majority Bangladeshis are confident about their identity religiously muslim culturally bengali
they same people who celebrate pohela boishak also celebrate Eid with exactly the same enthusiasm

Nowruz is also widely referred to as the Persian New Year.

Now don't say Iranians are less Muslims than Arabs because they celebrate Nowruz which is pre Islamic!

We are Muslims not Arabs. Our culture is Bengali and we shouldn't be in-secured about it.

Naowruz is a zoristrian festival and not Islamic. Iranians and many shias in Pakistan and persian speaking shias in Afghanistan (all of them mostly share roots with zoristrians ) celebrate it.

Traditionally all the mela including Boishaki celbrated by Hindu whether you agree or disagree. We also witnessing new phenema of clebrating Bangla new year by some Islamic name muslim.

You do not have to go back 500 years but if you even go back to pre 47 time , you would not find Muslims lurking around Ramna park wearing Dhooti and singing Tarogre song like Hindu has been doing traditionally.
