Renaissance of Bengali Hindu and the Subversion"

Read Bipin Chandra Pal a veteran freedom fighter from my small town Habiganj. Bipin Chandra Pal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
How many people here knows that his son was one of the founder of Bombay Talkies.

He was also the founder of Journal Bande Mataram. Indian should salute us for providing so many things to them.. LOL

The list does not end there. Others must be added, the music of Ustad Allauddin Khan, the fiery literature of Kazi Nazrul Islam, the poetry of Rabindranath, the great wisdom of Lalon Fakir, the scolarship of Amartya Sen; all of these had their genesis in East Bengal, now Bangladesh.
And there is more, of course; Al-Zakir and idune must agree to that!

.
I want to add something. Hindu soldiers did support mutiny but not the upper class hindus of bengal including cacutta babus. So labeling all hindus as betrayer is utterly wrong.

Probably you are trying to explain history to those who want to be blind to it.
What was the role of Mangal Pandey in the 1857 action?

I am not sure what 1857 has got to do with freedom struggle. It was a mutiny and some princely states joined it for their own gains. What is big deal of sikhs and punjabi muslims did not join it? May be they were satisfied with their provisions.
And this cow+pig fat seems more like a propaganda by those fighting british.

NO

I really wish you are a Bangladeshi. I really do... But I doubt you are one.

This guy is not a Bangladeshi let alone be Muslim. He is on of your kind hiding behind our flag.

.
you missed some points! They walk across the border, those who don't bribe BSF get killed. . . In india politicians use them for vote bank , give ration cards and bla bla bla .. . . . . . First clean your own house , then talk!!

I wonder why people leave Bangladesh to live in India.

Imagine just a ration card doled out by Indian politicians to increase their vote bank is an adequate allurement!

Does speak volumes!

What Al-Zakir said in his post is correct. It is supported by history. Why should it be a crap? Writing and reading in the same language do not necessarily unite two groups of people unless the bonds are made up of mutual trust and respect.

It did not happen in Bengal. This is why Hindu Bengalis accepted British rule so readily, learned English so quickly and devoted themselves to safeguard British rule with their pens and brains, if not with swords. In case of Bengal, Hindu pens proved to be mightier than the swords of Muslim Bangalis during the foreign British rule.

It is a canard that the Hindus sided the British.

Who spearheaded the Movement against the Partition of Bengal?

Who led the INA?

Who were those in the various revolutionary movements in Bengal against the British ie. Anushilon Samity, Jugantar amongst other organisations

Absolutely right.

Bangladeshis do not see people as belonging to a particular religious group. People here do not care what you believe in.

Oh you need to get down from your high horse almost immediately.

BBC News | SOUTH ASIA | Bangladesh Hindu atrocities 'documented'

Bangladesh slammed for persecution of Hindus

Let me clarify further: BD is NOT like your india. Our people do not cut open minority women's wombs with swords.

Thanks for understanding!:P

I would rather say India is not BD.

And read this. It may clear your mind from the unwanted shytty propaganda of the Guj riots by the Jamaati media.

Gujarat Riots: The True Story

1982 Nellie Slaughter
1984 Sikh Slaughter
1992 Bombay slaughter
2002 Gujrat riot.

Explain please? Also you do know there were no riots in Bangladesh after its creation///
Rather than what some reporter documented by twisting reality pls travel and learn
and also accept the fact that Bangladesh is a liberal Islamic country otherwise
they wouldn't elect two women to run the country.

Check the background of the riots.

In BD you have no riots since the population is marginal of Hindus and they do not agitate to demand that their laws apply.

So, two women makes it a liberal country?

Or are you suggesting that Islam does not treat women at the same level in competence or intelligence as men and that they are chattel?

Pakistan elected Benazir twice if I am not mistaken.

Iajduni, It was mostly Hindu soldiers, I read a nice take on mutiny by a Pakistani General, I'll find out and share.

Also do remember, there was no sense of country in 1857, it's easy to make a bogeyman out of 'Calcutta Babus', but do remember they also had been on the forefront of struggle for freedom with a selfless zeal unparalleled in the history of the region.

That doesn't mean there are 100-200 people of another religion...Bangladesh has the third largest Hindu population of the world after India, Nepal as far as I know. Acceptance is better than denial, you can try and accept that we are not fanatics.

.
I have never said that Bangladeshi are fanatics.

Not at all.

Good chaps actually when you meet them.

Many Bangaldeshi Army officers have been my students and they are fine people.

I have met some during the Vijay Diwas here in Fort William when, like every year, they come to join in the celebration of the Liberation of Bangladesh. Each was a pleasure to interact with.

So, you may banish any thoughts that I find Bangladeshis to be fanatics.

It is just that some Bangladeshis out here surprise me since their outlook does not quite coincide with those that I know. But then, I agree that it takes all sorts to make the world.

I don't have a high opinion of the Razakars, who are also Bangladeshis.

I am also aware of the Islam in Bangladesh compared to elsewhere having experienced it, as I can say the Islam of West Bengal is totally different from the Islam of the rest of India.
