I dont know my fellow bangladeshis r really bangalis or not. but i want to remind them of the famous battle of palashi where the betrayer was not a hindu but was a muslim. I also want to remind them of other battles including mysore ...where muslims did the Hideous unlikely things to their own nation. The actual writer of this article is among them who actually Hates hindus. In our country though muslims r major , hindus r educated most as per ratio is concerned
So the same theory goes with us --- we cant avoid hindus. Again , being separated from pak we r a better nation now----at least we live peacefully. Few isi supported groups like jamat e islami trying to push poison among people to bring the same fate as Pakistanis r having now. We have only one religion that is humanity. Hindus are as good as muslim, Christians & others. All religion bring same ethics. Only few business man who deal with our ethics to war are well known to all. Don’t listen to them. Don’t get used.

Sirajudullah's military was led by Mir Jaffar. The name does not suggest that he was a Hindu.

A General is responsible for the victory or defeat of an army.

He had, even though he was the paid employee of Sirajuddullah, along with others, who were not paid employee of the Nabob, entered a conspiracy with tne British to betray Siarj ud dullah and which he did.

The British made Mir Jaffar the Nabob by placing on the throne after Siraj was betrayed and then killed by Miran, the son of Mir Jaffar.

Well I can not translate the article because my Bangla is weak but I agree with writer that Bangla speaking Muslim and Hindus are always been different entity and Hindus alway teated us as enemy since Muslim rulers has come from out side of Benglal. What Al-Zakir said in his post is correct. It is supported by history. Why should it be a crap? Writing and reading in the same language do not necessarily unite two groups of people unless the bonds are made up of mutual trust and respect.

It did not happen in Bengal. This is why Hindu Bengalis accepted British rule so readily, learned English so quickly and devoted themselves to safeguard British rule with their pens and brains, if not with swords. In case of Bengal, Hindu pens proved to be mightier than the swords of Muslim Bangalis during the foreign British rule.

I thought I would translate the essay written in Bengali. But, it is a huge task and it will take a lot of time to do so. So, I have tentatively decided not to translate it. However, the gist may be same as above in my previous short post. This writer wrote the truth. Only the illiterate Awami Leaguers say Hindu and muslim Bangalis are same or have the same opinion on an issue.

5 leaders of these Hindus conspirated to oust Nawab siraj-ud-Dowlah and install General Yar Latif Khan in his place. Only Robert Clive vetoed this arrangement and asked the conspirators to negotiate with Meer Jafar.

One of these conspirators lost his mind and became a little crazy. Another Nawab Meer Qasem Ali Khan packed these traitors in sacks and threw them down from the Munger fort to a river. But, their conspiracy did not stop there. All the Hindu Bengalis extended positive supports to the British colonialists.

Even in 1857 war of independence, these Hindu Bangali traitors helped them while the Muslim Bangalis rebelled against the British. M. Akhtar Mukul wrote a book titled, "Kolkata-kendrik Budhijibi.' or 'Calcutta-centered Intellectuals,' that exposed the nature of Hindu Bangalis in 1857.'

AL should know the history of Bengal before it proposes Bangali nationalism. People will not accept these trators as one of our own. Neither we are ready to accept Sikh and Muslim Punjabis to be our equal in this respect, because they also proved themselves to be traitors when they were needed in 1875.

Sikh Punjabis did not support a reinstation of Mughal dynasty although all other groups of people, Muslims and Hindus, supported the move. Sikhs went to be enlisted in the British Army and the Muslim Punjabis followed them. British had weapons, but had very few soldirs to fight, and the Hindustanis had people to fight, but had very few weapons.

As a result of Punjabi durect participation in 1857, Hindustan lost the war and the British remained here until 1947. While Bangali Hindus supported their British masters, Bangali muslims rebelled. Since the war was by the entire Hindustan against the colonialist British, therefore, in essence, Bangali Hindus and Sikh/Muslim Punjabis betrayd the cause of their own countrymen.

you are right about 1857 but wrong about 1757 as it was more hindus who sided with Siraj than muslim. I know two of his most loyal and only generals were hindus who sacrificed their lives in the battle field.

I want to add something. Hindu soldiers did support mutiny but not the upper class hindus of bengal including cacutta babus. So labeling all hindus as betrayer is utterly wrong.

I would also like to add that bengali hindus contributed a lot to overthrow the british rule. Revolutionary groups like jugantor, anushilan samity and bengal volunteers were mostly made out of bengali hindus who plotted to overthrow the british.
