Re-organization of Chinar Division (theoretical)

AJ?? What it exactly stands for? First time i am seeing this.

I have the same questions. Thought this was incorrectly reported as AJ instead of AK, but then Bde HQs is at Kanoor-Nauseri.

You can get this verified.

Brigade HQ is at Muzaffarabad. I have been there.

'Scholar Warriors' from across the border sure use PDF as a mine for information related to Pak Mil. In this article the Colonel uses several of my interpretations from threads on the FCNA and 12 Div to give his still erroneous assessment of X Corps.

while discussing major PA formations in the area, we can't ignore the opponent's dispositions. many people outside the mil circle, even in India, would be unaware. here's a little summary:

109 Inf Bde - Kanzalwan
268 Inf Bde - Kupwara
68 Inf Bde - Panzgam
53 Inf Bde - Macchil
104 Inf Bde - Tangdhar
17 Inf Bde - Naugam
12 Inf Bde - Uri
161 Inf Bde - Rampur
93 Inf Bde - Poonch
10 Inf Bde - Mendhar
120 Inf Bde - Rajauri/Keri
80 Inf Bde - Nowshera
28 Inf Bde - Sunderbani
191 Inf Bde - Pallanwala

@PanzerKiel sir jee, care to add/correct. would be grateful.

formations opposite FCNA, which has 3 brigades:

8 Mountain Div (probably 4 x Bdes, 121, 56, 192, 70) and 102 IIBG at Partapur.

would appreciate corrections or add-ons.

8 mountain has only 3... 121 in kargil, 56 in daras and 192 in batalik.. 102 is under 14 corps deployed at siachen saltoro range.

interesting - we're at near parity then, if their brigades aren't too oversized, that is.

they still have an extra brigade in shape of 102 as our FCNA's 3 brigades include the one pitched against 102..
so it is 3 against 4 brigades plus their brigades usually ve 1 odd additional infantry battalion.

Can someone please explain to me why 12 Div and FCNA aren't officially called Mountain Divs?

Are all the divs in X Corp trained and equipped for mountain warfare or just 12 and FCNA?
