PTI Jalsa @ Minar-e-Pakistan: Karar daad-e-Naya Pakistan

.
Oscar makes a good observation of too much religion in this jalsa than previous, i add another thing.........this time he emphasizes more on his personality and brighten his trademark solo posture as a gift to PTI and its people, he went too far when he ask his followers to take lesson from it directly................i think its a direct result of some of the criticism he faced in previous months right uptill now (which he discussed in this speech as well) on the backdrop of downwards PTI popularity graph.....all he is saying rather arrogantly.......this is my way and i don't need anyone's opinion in this regards and when needs help in emphasizing this gesture; as usual he simply take refuge in religion...........:coffee:

Depends on his intention and the campaign demand.
For eg, PPPP uses Benazair to the "death" in their campaigns. PML(N) uses their "Bomb" achievement as if there was no nuke before them.
PTI on the other hand, has in need of a marketing strategy. Theirs is IK(because as much as PTI wallahs deny it.. IK is part of the brand) and additionally Javed "Baghi" Hashmi.

IK has been termed as arrogant from commentators since the beginning, which comes with his cricketing history.
Even if that is no longer in his persona, inspiration by him needs to give a role model.
If you look at his speech, he has cited the prophet and not himself initially.
However, to link that to an achievable outcome he decided to give his example which then links those values that were associated with the Prophet's rule to what he offers in PTI.
Depending upon the depth and perception of the audience, this may be taken as arrogant.. or inspirational.

Denim on Kameez makes less sense than on shalwar, since denim does get hot on occasions.

A Denim pyjama or Shalwar...
Sounds like an idea to pitch to PTI campaigners.

The PTI shalwar.. blend of modernity and traditionalism.

Looked pretty comfy as a winter season clothing...it was that soft denim kind material.

He does not have to drag in the Jamaat vote-bank in its entirety. Since that vote bank has die-hard extremists that adhere to certain preaching tactics. However, his effort seems to be to sway the "better than nothing" voter who wishes for a greater role of Islam in the governance. Their options being the ANP and JI in KP, and JI, PML(N) in Punjab.
He may sway members of JI in Karachi but not by a large margin, since those members are generally "talibanisque" in nature. The reason for that is the general higher tolerance(or rather mixture of tolerance levels) in Karachi there are extremes of everything.

Lahore may end up as his, but beyond that I see weakening of powerhouses but not change.

Karachi will remain a MQM stronghold simply because that party has too strong an influence on voter banks.. and with the recent jump in of Gabol.. Lyari is also theirs.

I only see a MQM level presence of PTI in the NA after elections.
PML Q and PPP will try to form an alliance again, JI may go to PML.. and a hodgepodge coalition that does nothing will form.

Bhai who minister ho kar bhi Liyari nahi jaa sakta tha, vote kahan say lay ga. Moreover Bilawal is likely to contest election from that constituency so Mr Gabol will only give a cosmetic effect to MQM. Yes, MQM will remain a dominant party as it was in previous elections. However they have to be vigilant from MWM.

Mass rally as Imran Khan kicks off campaign

Tens of thousands gather in Lahore as Pakistan's cricketer-turned-politician launches election bid for May 11 polls.

Tens of thousands of people are rallying in the Pakistani city of Lahore in support of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.

Khan kicked off his election campaign in earnest with the rally, held in the eastern city on Saturday.

The PTI is shaping up to be a wildcard for the May 11 parliamentary election - the first transition between democratically elected civilian-led governments in a country that has been ruled by the military for more than half of its 65-year history.

Casting himself as an anti-corruption crusader, the 60-year-old is seen as a threat to the two long-dominant parties as evidenced by the huge crowds that turned out Saturday to support him.

Thousands of people poured towards Pakistan's independence monument in Lahore, the country's second largest city, waving the red and green flags of the PTI.

Young men and women, his core support base, dominated the crowd, wearing "Imran Khan" and "Revolution" T-shirts, and caps in the party's colour.

They carried pictures of Khan, who became an icon for captaining Pakistan's cricket team to its only World Cup win in 1992 and setting up a cancer hospital that provides world-class care, free of charge to the poor.

Khan chose the venue, where Indian Muslims made their first official demand for a separate homeland, and the timing - the 73rd anniversary of the demand - to kickstart his campaign just days after elections were called for May 11.

Al Jazeera's Kamal Hyder, reporting from the site of the rally, said that the crowd was growing, and that Khan was expected to unveil his party's manifesto for the general election.

"Imran Khan will be unveiling the party manifesto, he is saying that the people of Pakistan are fed up with the traditional politics, that the people want change," he reported.

"[He] is also trying to prove that he can hold those large rallies, that he still has considerable support here in Pakistan."

'Fed up with old faces'

"We want a change," said Abdul Rehman, who travelled from the northwestern city of Peshawar which has been on the frontline of Taliban attacks and where Khan also attracts some support because of his ethnic Pashtun background.

"We are fed up with the old faces. They are the symbol of the status quo. We want to bring new faces and Imran Khan should come to power now," said another young man from Gujrat in Punjab province.

The young and the urban middle-class have been particularly drawn to Khan's determination to stamp out corruption, which is endemic in public life, tackle poverty and unemployment, and end the country's power crisis.

They see PTI, founded in 1996, as a fresh alternative to the outgoing
Pakistan People's Party and opposition Pakistan Muslim League-N of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif which have dominated civilian governments for decades.

Authorities have beefed up security for the rally and diverted traffic.

They also shut cellphone networks at the venue and immediate surrounding area as a precaution to guard against bombs, some of which are detonated via such devices.

Leave out Baghi.......there are 272 constituencies all over Pakistan.....exactly on how much IK couldl be one of the contestant:azn:

His too much emphasim on personality will backfire in a traditional politics....he is simply under estimating it arrogantly.

If you look at his speech, he has cited the prophet and not himself initially.

Just Rewind and watch again....he represents his personality first!!

However, to link that to an achievable outcome he decided to give his example which then links those values that were associated with the Prophet's rule to what he offers in PTI.

Dear Just amalgamate this Religion+Personality with his own words "people saying why don't you are making alliances.......i.e., Mian sb.......you will reach the conculsion as i explained.

. .
Absolutely Wrong............the Pakistani democracy revolves around constituancy politics......and this gathering if highly exaggerated are less than two constituency voters

All talk...but no action. Maybe that buffoon known as Ganja should have his own jalsa in Lahore...but guest not because he does not have the capacity and brain power to achieve such a feat. Still remember that epic failure of a march to Islamabad, where noon league were running between there tails behind there legs.

Lets not get every old person into the historic crowd.
Yes, she should get praise for coming out.. but if you had to attend the Quaid's Jalsa you would have had to be atleast 5 or 6 to comprehend it. and that means being 80 years old.
Probability and average age narrow that down to not being so likely.

We've had many embarrassing moments in Pakistan with people claiming to be grandsons of M.A Jinnah and being applauded in the assembly.
Lets not make the mistake of adding myths to try and hype up an achievement(which needs none).
