Age and personal misfortune has slowed down Mr. Sharif. Though he was never known for fiery speeches or thundering sermons, Mr. Sharif looked fatigued and almost broken. Maybe the emotional factors overtook him.
Just like the economy of the country, his own political party is in shatters and would require meticulous attention in preparation for the general elections. The party has largely struggled as most of it's leading members fight off corruption allegations and rise of new political parties like TLP have clawed away the conservative vote base.
