Bhai I am sure that with the advent of technology, new Fatwas can be given on moon sighting. What you are referring to was the time when so such technology existed and hence it was mandatory to see the moon with naked eye however with changing dynamics many new fatwas were issued by scholars as per law and shariyat but according to new times. Mullah needs to explain why they threw aside the old fatwas against painting press and loudspeakers.. Why stop the old way of hand written Qur'an and the azan directly from the maozzam? Why the hypocrisy herehere? Bcz its convenient... What about images on our CNIC. What about marriage registration mind you that fatwa came right after the 1961 family ordinance passed.

If radars and all sorts of detection equipment are TELLING you that yes, the new moon IS their at the x, y and z location in the sky, then WHY on EARTH do the "ulemas" (a term used VERY loosely these days unfortunately) need to be consulted at ALL? It is simple math and science! I mean what's next? We need to consult with ulemas on if 2 + 2 = 4 or not? What if by a fluke of a chance, Pakistan is fully covered in a layer of thick clouds one day and an observatory in saudi Arabia or iran observes the new moon, wha, we aren't gonna have an eid because no "ulema" saw the moon in our nek-a-the-woods owing to thick clouds? Come on man...

Dont try to be mufti. First go and check how to sight eid moon and who said it how to have it.

Problem is with guys like you. You need best dr for treatment, you need best engineer for development but when its come to Islam. Pappu paan wala bhi zindabad.


Use of technology is welcome but that should be consider with alim as like any dr who have studied years and has knowldge. Why cant we simply discuss such things or invite islamic scholar for this

@Zarvan bro, how is moon sighting done in countries like Malaysia and Saudi Arabia etc? They have ONE Eid, that's it and the state decides. Do you think their ways are unislamic and the current multiple eids in Pakistan is Islamic?

Eyes can see the moon on a screen, or a pilot's eyes can see from a jetfighter. So your 'eyes' condition will be met anyways, 'Mullah's eyes only' is not a condition set in Islam anywhere!

Take the moral and ethical lessons from Islam and leave the rest back in 7th century. Its not a way of life in 2019, this is a different epoch of humanity. Christianity and Judaism did the same. Islam and Hinduism which are still followed literally and look at the mess its created, war and poverty. No birth of moon takes place on 28th now you are going to further reduce the month ???? Sorry moon sighting has to be done through naked eye. Even with new technology and birth of moon being known it has to be done through naked eye

In Western countries the followers of Ahle sunnah declare the new moon either if it can be sighted, or if the meteorology reports state it should be possible to sight it, given the correct conditions. This is the approach i feel should be taken.

From space the new moon is "born" before it is possible to sight it on earth. If this approach was taken it would be considered controversial in my opinion.

I know, that is what i said. This is why we must go by either when the moon is sighted, or when it should be scientifically feasible to sight the moon. The first can be done manually, the second can be determined by the meterology department.

In the UK this is standard fare (amongst a load of drama and hypocrisy amongst all our molvi). We have some who will do Eid when Saudi do Eid and for the rest of us we have a 3 step process;

1. Can we sight the moon ourself (in the UK the answer often is no)
2. Can it be sighted in a local country (unfortunately there is some hypocrisy in the definition of local)
3. Does the meterology department report it should be humanly possible to sight the moon, (in perfect conditions).

Then the Meteorological department can calculate it and look for it with their own eyes. I want people that are dedicated in their field of work to do these type of things, I dont want someone from the masjid that has no background in science to do stuff related to science. Like how you wouldnt want a car mechanic to become your doctor.

It has nothing to do with science. It's basic natural phenomena which you need to do is look for the moon
