Those who have their eyes open are witnessing the brick by brick dissemblement of Islam in Pakistan. IK’s PTI govt is resembling the era of Ataturk where the state controlled religion and secularism susperseded Islam and the ulema were imprisoned.

Our future generation will curse us for voting in such a govt. I agree that structural reforms and ‘selective’ ehtesaab is happening but deen e Islam is in danger from these secularists and already we can see religion is state controlled. Woe on us, for our amaal have brought us to this junction

Withdraw zardari cases, release the noora brathran, go back to the days of mullahs running their own shadow governments through through violence and coercion...Islam will be restored and well protected. wwwwaah, kia baat hay, good thinking...

I take it as positive step but consultation with Ulema should also be taken into consideration. Scientific evidence is not enough as you also need eye witnesses to declare Eid etc

We do not want to see further division for such matters as many people would like to see eye witnesses before accepting the decision of PMD

Had modern technology existed during Prophet Muhammad PBUH time, he would had opted for that at every cost. This is where ijtehad important. Mullahs and like minded people, doesn't want it.

Funny part, some mullah minded members like Zarvan is criticizing the move. All these mullahs uses modern technology for e.g glasses as their eye wear all the time but still criticizies further technology just because it will make them redundant. Anything which suits them , is ok for them but anything which is neutralizing their role in public is harraam for them.

Zarvan, with all due respects you need to get your basics right about Islam. You DO NOT need so called "Ulemas" to witness moon sightings. Moon sighting can be sighted by ordinary Muslims, and these ordinary Muslims can then provide or pass on verbal "witness statements" to other Muslims including so called Ulemas.

And this is why Islam is in such a terrible state due to the "convenient" misunderstanding of Islam or the "convenient twisting" of Islam. If Prophet Muhammad PBHM came to this world today for one hour, he would have been very disappointed at what has become of this great religion at the hands of corrupt Mullahs, and I am sure he would have hanged them by their balls for causing such a destruction to this great religion.

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led federal government has reportedly decided to disband the Ruet-i-Hilal committees at all levels and entrust the task of moon sighting to the Meteorological Department.

Reports in local media suggest the decision was made in the wake of repeated nuisance following the controversial decisions of moon sightings by the committees in the past, which cost millions to the national exchequer.

The decision will also help to end the confusion on the sighting of the moon for when the month would start and end, according to reports.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), which is well-equipped to predict moon birth in advance based on scientific calculations, is to be tasked with the job, the reports added.

It is a popular belief that in any Islamic state, the right of announcement for moon sighting for Eid and Ramazan is the authority of the state.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee chairman Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman announced that the crescent of Jamadi-ul-Awal has not been sighted and the 1st Jamadi-ul-Awal 1440 Hijri will be on Tuesday.

He announced this after chairing the meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Karachi today

So Zarvan to clarify, the data which the "Meteorological equipment" gathers is still WITNESSED by a HUMAN MUSLIM for VERIFICATION. So you have a MUSLIM WITNESS who verifies DATA and then passes this on to the Government. This is no different to the fundamentals of ordinary Muslims sighting the moon. Again let me re-emphasis, Islam has been twisted and made difficult when IT IS NOT and it is the most straightforward religion for ordinary human kind.

His data can tell birth of moon has taken place sorry but after birth of moon at least 36 hours are required after which moon can be sighted by naked eye. Sighting from eye has to be done

It is nothing to do with experts it has to be done through eye

Mullah needs to explain why they threw aside the old fatwas against painting press and loudspeakers.. Why stop the old way of hand written Qur'an and the azan directly from the maozzam? Why the hypocrisy herehere? Bcz its convenient... What about images on our CNIC. What about marriage registration mind you that fatwa came right after the 1961 family ordinance passed.

What about modern weaponry? What abt the atomic bomb which our Islamic brethren over here are always willing to throw at India every other thread...

Bas jahalat and hypocrisy and this is why we Muslims are the most backward people of the world. Our progress in culture and science is next to nothing.. We dream of the golden age but act exactly the opposite of our Muslim ancestors during that golden age..
