and what exactly is so "unislamic" about seeing the data produced by detection equipment telling you that this IS the the birth of the new moon with your "eye" verses actually seeing the new moon with your eye itself? by your analogy, if the whole country is covered in a thick cloud cover then there won't be any ramadhan OR eid! Please open up your mind...
At least 36 hours after birth of moon takes place a moon is of enough size to get detected by naked eye so sorry birth of moon can't be the standard
You do know that technology exists today that will tell you that the new moon is in fact their before it becomes visible to the naked eye, right? If that equipment tells you that new moon is mow their, you are guaranteed to see it a few hours later clouds permitting. I ask you once again, what is so unislamic about that? Just sounds like an attempt at power grab by molvies cuz even if an average citizen who is not a molvi sees it, they'll refuse to believe him just cuz he isn't one of "them". And God forbid if a WOMAN comes forward and says that she saw it....shudder to think their response to that poor woman....

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led federal government has reportedly decided to disband the Ruet-i-Hilal committees at all levels and entrust the task of moon sighting to the Meteorological Department.
Reports in local media suggest the decision was made in the wake of repeated nuisance following the controversial decisions of moon sightings by the committees in the past, which cost millions to the national exchequer.
The decision will also help to end the confusion on the sighting of the moon for when the month would start and end, according to reports.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), which is well-equipped to predict moon birth in advance based on scientific calculations, is to be tasked with the job, the reports added.
It is a popular belief that in any Islamic state, the right of announcement for moon sighting for Eid and Ramazan is the authority of the state.
Meanwhile on Sunday, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee chairman Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman announced that the crescent of Jamadi-ul-Awal has not been sighted and the 1st Jamadi-ul-Awal 1440 Hijri will be on Tuesday.
He announced this after chairing the meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Karachi today

No it can't be Islam is some ones personal Islam is what ALLAH and his RASOOL SAW have decided. And wrong move. Moon sighting is must. Eid or Ramdan can't be decided on birth of moon.
Than Eid would be done next day. Either 29 or 30. Moon Sighting has to be done.
What is unislamic is that you have to sight the moon. Every body knows moon is there it doesn't get destroyed and new moon doesn't come to existence. It's same moon. Yes every body knows about birth of moon and How many hours are needed before moon can be seen through naked eye. Still Moon has to be sighted from the eye.
The key difference between you and me is that you believe there is only ONE type of sighting, i.e. through the eye while I (and the rest of the scientific world) believe there are multiple forms of sighting, be it through the eye, through the radar, through telescope and the rest of equipment that exists today. After all, at the end of the day, it boils down to DATA which meets the eye be it through direct sighting or through indirect sighting via a telescope or radar or data generated through precise calculations. Therefore their is no violation of anything in the Quran or the sunnah if the data of sensors, radars or computers indicating the moon's birth is sighted, read and observed which, at the end of the day, is done through the eye. It is as simple as that.
Then you can go out check the moon yourself every month, and celebrate Ramadan and eid on your own sightings.

Yes and ALLAH and his RASOOL SAW knew about other form of sightings so please stop trying to teach Islam to those who gave you Islam. Sighting from naked eye is must to decide about the starting of the month.
