You reacted very badly to one of our members saying that to be able to build jet engines and improve Bangladesh's aerospace industry, you need to build up your heavy manufacturing. After all, you can't just fart out planes.

Even 'simple' 30 seaters need hundreds of parts... which needs domestic manufacturing... unless you just import all the parts. But then, you're not 'manufacturing planes' you are just 'assembling' them.

Totally reasonable right? The poster wasn't even talking about the rest of Bangladesh, just stating that Indonesia's heavy industry is more developed, and how that in turns supports our strategic industries. Not just planes. That is why Bangladesh imports Trains, Carriages, and Busses from Indonesia. It was in-topic.

You then respond that Indonesia is just as bad as Bangladesh, that we're just on the verge of falling apart, and that poverty in Indonesia is even worse than Bangladesh.

As an outsider, i applaud BD's plan to develop their strategic industries including one mentioned in the article. It won't be easy, and failure upon failure will be haunting their journey. How much price would they need to pay and how long will it take for them to realized this plan, i'll let them to answer the question themselves, since nobody would serve it to them on the silver plate.

You forget that increased govt tax revenue has little to do with BD paltry foreign investment outflow....given that is more dictated by poor performing private sector and banking system. There is a reason why Pakistan does lot better than BD on it even though they have been beset by internal conflict.

BD has this nasty dissonance between stats sourced locally and those that can be 3rd party verified (i.e trade, foreign investment in both directions, energy consumption, socioeconomic performance of BD people residing in other countries etc).

Till this dissonance goes away and/or BD achieves SDDS category, it can self-publish whatever claims it wants for GDP, GDP growth, inflation, revenue etc etc.

A 4 yr old can after all scribble a PhD certificate on a piece of paper with his crayon...and run around the room yelling and screaming with its achievement, while tea is being served in the study upstairs for the people that actually matter. Does not mean the kid will be taken seriously by the latter.

You know what, even when our country is in the most vulnerable state (1965/1998) our people never seeks asylum in large number toward Australia, Europe or North America like Bd people (its happened till today, when their economy supposedly growing at 7 percent rate) and begging for easy life there. Instead we go to Middle East, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan or Taiwan for whatever hardjob available and learn a thing or two from them, the mentality between both countries people is very different.

Bangladeshis not only immigrate but also doing hand job in middle east and other countries. Bengalis are 3rd largest ethnicity in the world after Han and Arabs. When it comes to immigration and getting settled down in foreign countries, it is no different than other big ethnicity in the world. They make their own community and ghettos in foreign shore. @Śakra, I think BD posters are angry with posters from most of the countries which are successfully developing. Neither our political leaders nor the educated brats here ever try to understand the process of national development. I have read here that many think Bd can develop without going through the pain of building millions of manufacturing plants and working there incessantly to produce wealth.

I wonder how do they propose to create employment and national wealth without first building the manufacturing plants. Political leaders are similarly ignorant. They are just enjoying the boom with only the infusion of cheap labor in the textiles. But, this cannot continue for long. Thinking of a development strategy without the development of manufacturing industries is equivalent to building a house in the sky. It will fall down quick.

You guys have not only become accustomed to these, you probably have started to cherish these garbage. To you, it is the symbol of BD development and civilization.
