Kashmiriyaat is a political concept actually. Nobody cared about any terms to define Kashmiri unity and identity. The Muslims used to hate it because it was secular The non Muslims disliked it because of the implied majoritarianism.I had read this somewhere that kashmir lost its soul and so called kashmiriyat after pandits left Kashmir. When I happened to quote the same line here on the forum I earned some brickbats
Superstition and superstition only. Kashmir has always very vulnerable to floods and earth quakes. Giving it a religious touch sensationalizes the theme of discussion, nothing else. There is also a rumor in the Valley - that the flood is a curse from Kausernag(for killing/driving out Pandits). Ancient tradition states that if He is disturbed, He brings destruction by flooding Kashmir back to nothing! Also Mattan (the only Hindu area) was untouched! This fueled more superstitions.

Hey I missed this post.My Uncle is in Kashmir and Missing. Guys pray for his wellbeing.
That was a very very rude post.Ah! Isn't it the self proclaimed righteous old f**k @Joe Shearer giving - ratings. You should be looking for a Funeral Insurance instead of wasting time on Internet.
Tell the folks of Ganderbal. They have even re-erected Durga temples along the roads to bring good luckSuperstition and superstition only. Kashmir has always very vulnerable to floods and earth quakes. Giving it a religious touch sensationalizes the theme of discussion, nothing else.
"ropes in" is the wrong terminology- I'm sure the Sikhs there would be more than happy to assist and do some Sewa and do their bit for their brothers and sisters in Kashmir.
The word is so commonly used that I also decided to use it in one of my posts only to realise the blunder later.Kashmiriyaat is a political concept actually. So I am not surprised that you got the flak.
Hint: It is similar to the taunt - 'pseudo-secular'/'sickular' in the rest of India. The word is so commonly used that I also decided to use it in one of my posts only to realise the blunder later.
Its sad that NRIs need to have an account in the Indian bank to be able to donate in PMNRF.Why can't i donate with credit card on the prime minister fund website?? I don't have any Indian bank accounts.

The cultural bond that all Kashmiris (are supposed to) share. Very popular during the days of socialism. In his early days the Sheikh was soo secular that he could even put Nehru to shame. What is it, basically?
Then how did it turn into a taunt? The cultural bond that all Kashmiris (are supposed to) share. Very popular during the days of socialism. In his early days the Sheikh was soo secular that he could even put Nehru to shame.
A very very interesting character in the history of Kashmir. The cultural bond that all Kashmiris (are supposed to) share. Very popular during the days of socialism. In his early days the Sheikh was soo secular that he could even put Nehru to shame.
