PIA Privatized!

But Air India is managed better, why is that? Do you people have same issues?

Bro local air lines you already know.

PIA, well depends on your luck. Hard to go through having aunties for long distance flights.

AI is bleeding.

Besides mismanagement the added burden is that it HAS to operate flights internally on non profitable routes like those to A&N Islands, Lakshadweep Islands, J&K, NE .In fact whenever I have to travel to the NE or within the NE the safest bet is to fly AI as once can be sure that the flight does not get cancelled due to ' Technical reasons' as private airlines do when there are hardly any passengers.

The lucrative part of privatizing such national carriers is not so much the operations part but the huge assets these airlines have at home & abroad - Offices, Hangars & so much more.

Please type air india losses on google,,,it probably looses more money than the economy of a small nation:lol:.
Its just a cash cow for politicians now,,,,they keep on buying more planes and the losses keep on increasing every year

im all for privatisation if the govt cant transform it. I do not see why privatising it will be harmful to the economy. There are hardly any social returns in excess of private returns which we will loose as a nation after the privatisation. To understand this, let's say that the new management closes many of the loss making routes. Now the question which needs to be answered is: Is any of our industry (or sub industry) benefiting significantly from the traffic on these loss making routes? If the answer is yes then it should not be privatised; but if the answer is no, then there is no reason why it should not be privatised. To me the answer is no.

Privatising PIA will in itself be an achievement. In the balance sheet, liabilities + equity = assets. In the case of PIA, liabilities alone are more than all the assets combined which means that there is negative equity. Its a bankrupt entity which is working just because of the government guarantees. Had it been a private entity, all its assets would have been sold to pay back the creditors while the shareholders would get nothing.

Great news. A burden on the taxpayer will be removed and governments will not be able to use the organisation to place all their tattus in there....

Oh, and please new planes, better service, better facilities and seriously young folk as airline attendants, N.B. especially the women. :undecided:

Oh the glory years....

Just googled, losses are $830 million for Air India 2013-14, not bad at all. PIA on the other hand losses close to $400 million while being much smaller air line and Pak having much smaller economy.

Unless Air India losses are close to $3 billion every year then its doing well compared to PIA.

Air India posts a loss of Rs 5,000 crore in 2013-14 - Economic Times

"LOSES means you are not doing well"

US companies make billions in profits each one of them even a hub cap maker makes billion dollar

Stupid idea.we have to depoliticize pia and give job and chairmanship on merit.if we can do that we can make billion of ruppe. BTW who will buy the share? Nawaz Sharif or mian mansha.that' another way of corruption

Pakistan is a country of 200 million..that borders almost half of humanity (2.5 billion people of India and China)..and lies in the middle of Asian markets (India, China, Central Asia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan etc) and resource rich Arab World...

If managed and marketed correctly, PIA has every potential to become an aviation giant like Turkey Airways or Emirates.

(But knowing the situation on ground, it seems really hard)...

Emirates works on this formula. A leader with a far sighted vision can see this which we fortunately lack.
