PDV VS Arrow 2

.
Something makes be think the "PDV" tested few days back isn't really the final avatar of the system.

.
Before posting this pictures and exposing your BS knowledge on the subject, at least learn to post correct picture. The picture you posted is not PDV but it is PAD.
It wasn't even PAD which he posted, rather the target missile for PAD test.
This is PAD (notice extended length for the second stage):

Arrow-2 and Arrow-3's description....

Arrow-2

480px-Arrow_anti-ballistic_missile_launch.jpg

Range-around 90 km
Altitude-around 50 km(though intercepted a missile at 100 km altitude,not sure)
probably use MC4 radar or some unknown X band Radar made and manned by USA,probably along with Green Pine and Super Green Pine Radar and AN/TPY-2 Radar
can engage even smaller missiles like Kassam or Grad

capability of the system------

The high-powered X-Band system, manufactured by Raytheon Company, would allow Israel’s Arrow II ballistic shield to engage an Iranian Shehab-3 missile about halfway through its 11-minute flight to Israel, six times sooner than Israel’s existing Green Pine radar can. The X-Band can track an object the size of a baseball from 2,900 miles away.

use directed fragmentation warhead to destroy enemy missiles.

The system and its engagements are controlled by the mobile Citron Tree battle management center. The launchers are also mobile, and the radars are semi-mobile, the system is resistant to pre-emptive strikes if good discipline is maintained.

Arrow-3

Arrow-3_Feb-25-2013_%28a%29.jpg

2 staged,Exoatmosphoric

Range-Greater range than Arrow-2(over 100 Km,even though weighs nearly half of Arrow-2)
Altitude-greater than 100 km

Upper stage has thrust vectoring capabilty to steer it towards the target,Hit to Kill

can serve as ASAT

please post more info..also,we seriously lack spec about PDV.

.
no details of bmd are available except the range and altitude of interceptions.
so its a totally futile thread.

unless we know about the characteristics of acquisition radars etc,we cannot make any comparison

.
@OP Any reliable source which confirms 5ton weight of missile?

My mistake, apologize. Quoted the PDV wrongly.

The PDV radar showed to public as posted above:

You may find the interesting what the awesome Indian's engineer were doing: they simply enlarged the radar disk base on PAD which has Russia blood.

1) Did not increase power wattage, they may share the same power supply, such as batteries, amplify. It's limited by India domestic industrial ability.

2) Flawed layout design even though it's only a prototype ---- it's assembled.
As per the pointy radome structure, basically you have to cone the radar module . Like this: (KH-35)

They have big device and power supply module, a smaller plate.

From PAD, it was wrong:

008200803260399.jpg

You may find the improper body-radar size on PAD missile.

Comes to PDV, no change, it's even worse:

Don't expect the real radar inside will be a lot of different since PAD lives like this for long long time already.

Reason: 1) No compact rocket engine, over sized body of missile.
2) No optimization of radar design.

Impressive and regret.

So you accept that seeker is most advance!!!!!!!!
Thank you.
It is ours.
Just envy. You can't do anything.
I meant the seeker is the most advanced part of the missile.
India may have the ability to assemble it. Core parts are definitely imported ---- doesn't matter, even US purchased lots of parts from manufacturers other than from US. Enjoy for free!

Again conspiracy theories and no proof to back up any of the tall claims.Don't you get tired??

Hello Guys!!!!!!!!

In order to get familiarize with india's new BMD system called PDV, I am starting this thread to discuss the compression of Israeli arrow II system against PDV of India. All defense enthust are requested to post their views. Israeli members are specially invited to contribute to this forum in addition to Indian, Pakistani and Chines members.

I have posted Arrow 2 specification from Wiki since PDV specifications are not available.

No trolling please.

Let us discuss.

Nice pictures and informative post.

Appreciated.

I can foresee a lot of scope for slashing the weight.

can serve as ASAT

How since ceiling is very low?

How since ceiling is very low?

may be it has various profiles...one of them is ASAT.see, even India said Agni-3 can be converted as ASAT..

Agni-III could be modified for use as anti-satellite weapon, says DRDO chief - Indian Express

now, this can be BS,or,they can truly.then again,ASAT isn't something very "Sophisticated" tech.even Air launched missiles can serve as ASAT.

ASM-135 ASAT - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Russia probably use Mig-31D for this role.though the missile(previously known as Kontakt) for this role is unknown.

even an ASAT based on AIM 120 has been developed which would use F-15/F-22/F-35.

40 Years In The Desert: AIM-120 AMRAAM Modified for Missile Intercept

way too much above our level.

if some people doesn't know,AIM 120 has limited ABM capability against missiles like Scud.

Come on Griffin

For use in anti satelite weapon, A missile must have the capability to reach Leo orbit. Arrow is no where closer to that since ceiling is just 50 to 60 meter. It must have at least 8 to 10 time celling to reach leo orbit.

Why don't u enlighten us by telling about a compact high altitude interceptor? And plz do tell from where the seeker is imported from ? USA or Israel or RUSSIA or may be China? Cause china has most sophisticated semiconductor manufacturing.

PDV have much longer range and more than double interceptor ceiling. I do not know what are you talking about.
