What's new

Parachute Regiment of Indian Army copying Pakistani SSG Commandos.

They all respond of every sect and even atheists and non Muslims, why? Because the Imams valour is never in doubt, and is what is being celebrated and channelled.

its funny that copying the Shia tradition of using Ali and Hussain RA names as slogan's Sunni's created their own Nara-e-Farooqi for Umar Ibn Khattab RA , some might say this Shia Sunni competition is starting to reflect in society as much of Sunni's are inclined to celebrate BDay's of Umar , Abu Bakr and Uthman RA and mourn their Shahdat anniversaries . Thank God that Our Army has strict codes of Sectarianism or else we might see huge issues regarding Shia Sunni's within the Armed Forces .

Will not happen, the Barelvis and Shia form at least 80% of the population. And in the armed forces it is a nationalist force, ie everyone in the Armed Forces of whatever religion or ethnic origin are Pakistani Nationalists.

Sunnis have no tradition of "mourning" anyone centuries after their death, not even years after their death, who ever is gone is gone forever and public mourning is just restricted to few days (3 days after the death I believe) according to Sunnat of prophet Muhammad (SAW).

In Military, YA - Ali is coz of synonym to Sher-e- Khuda, its not confined to shia or sunni. The significance is in meaning to grant the courage of Hazrat Ali R.A, to have valor like he did.

It is but lets not face off from reality that Ali and Hussain RA becomes the front face of Shiaism , Have you ever heard of a Slogan for Hasan ? He was also grandson of Prophet , have you heard any slogans for Khalid Ibn Walid ? I am merely pointing it out that these slogans will always have sectarian vibe to it .

However pun aside, anybody can do anything.

Let me address a few of the issues being discussed on this thread.

Is the march on the double something that the SSG initiated? Not specifically. However, in the sub-continent, SSG were the first to put it on display during parades and eventually others, including the Indian Paras, adopted it.

The march on the double started in the 80s. Prior to that, SSG detachments, when and if part of the parade, would march just like the regular units. The march on the double was adopted to showcase the high fitness levels of the SSG and also as a measure of the "special" nature of the special operations troops.

Prior to the 80s, SSG did not take part in parades as they stayed away from the limelight. It was only when the then Commander SSG, Brig Tariq Mahmood, kicked this off. Prior to that, besides the maroon beret, SSG smock (worn ceremonially) and the commando wing, there was no other outward way of showing SSG troops differently than the regular troops. So for good or bad, SSG was showcased differently from other units by having them participate in parades with their smocks and the march on the double.

As to their cadence (chants etc.) while on the double, that too has changed over time. Initially it was just "Man Jaanbazum" in Persian (meaning "I am a jaanbaz") and then it became "Allah hu" with the Islamization brought into the Army by Zia. However to this day, the motto of the SSG remains "Man Jaanbazum" which I personally have always appreciated.

On the point about "Nara-e-Haidery", its a battle cry used along with Nara-e-takbeer. Leaving the theological aspects aside (i.e. using "Ya" with Ali RA's name instead of exclusively with Allah the almighty's name), both are still in use but the latter more so than the former.

Really? Birthday and Mourning? U must be talking about Barelvis. Deobandis are highly against it

as far as I've seen they are the best of all mazhahib, in any case punishments for any wayward troublemakers is unimaginable
Training methods, training standard, military way of life - helps in generating unity among all troops. The rare cases are weeded out sooner or later

Bhai, do i have to explain everything ?

YA - Ali related to Sher - e - khuda related to valor, courage. The rest of your examples are not sher - e - khuda. Who wouldn't want to fight like a lion of God in war, its an honor. Why forcefully put a shia label.

In post 59 and then 73, i have mentioned that troops conduct differently than members here on the forum. They dont have time to wait and choose over logics and reasons. One soldier chants the slogan or battle cry, rest answer his call and the battle gains momentum.

If you are in war start chanting Khalid Ibn Walid slogan, your call will be answered by others around you. After the war, you can hold a meeting with those troops on logic and sectarian ethics and what not.

okay, but I've never come across a deobandi soldier, seen plenty madrassa tulebaa but a soldier, no (talking about 1970s 80s)
Even if there was one, or say 10 or say 100 deobandi troops - Military doesn't care, the battalion doesnt care, Commanding officer doesnt care, company commander doesnt care, platoon mates don't care - They fight as a single entity.

If there is anyone creating trouble, he is reported by NCO to JCO to Coy Comd to CO and the matter gets resolved inside unit through mentoring or the trouble maker hits Quarter Guard Lock up and then sent home - permanently

Oh bhai , yes there was a related title but so does Khalid Ibn Walid ? Sword of Allah , or Saif ullah tell me if that is not related to war ? I am not saying its wrong for saying any slogan of Ali or anyone but what I am saying that Ali RA has been the main figure of Shia Islam and his slogans will always have sectarian vibe to it, and I blame Shia people for it ( No offense ) .

There should be only Chant or slogan because God is above all, not even slogans of Muhammad Pbuh should be encourage, we are walking on a thin line of doing Shirk . only and only Allah is Great ( Allah ho Akbar ) rest are all based on which sect they belong or which school of thought they subscribe too .

Even if there was one, or say 10 or say 100 deobandi troops - Military doesn't care, the battalion doesnt care, Commanding officer doesnt care, company commander doesnt care, platoon mates don't care - They fight as a single entity.

Good that's all that matters in the end .
