Pakistan’s Japanese-dominated car market set to attract Europe and Korea

@Nihonjin1051 any reason why Japanese cis are exploiting innocent Pakistanis so much

Don't ask the Japanese this question. Asked the previous rulers of Pakistan as to why didn't they ask these foreign companies to bring out the best of their products to Pakistan? Well, two answers. 1: The country was poor as hell and 2: the previous rulers were military guys and don't know international business, re-assessing manufacturing contracts and can't negotiate as they are trained to fight. So in the absence of a qualified, business savvy democratically elected leader, you had all this going on!!

Pakistan could easily import cars from Iran / China at cheaper rates.

Japanese cars are assembled in Pakistan , they promised full transfer of technology to make cars fully in Pakistan but that promise has not resulted in Pakistani manufacturer making more then 20-30 % of the car parts so last 30 years have been wasted in that venture

Look at the shitt...y interior of engine !!!

Compare to a car that has sign of "ENGINEERING" inside it and parts that reflect the engineering

i LOVE the Mustang. Have owned two of these puppies in the past. Great muscle car and engineering packed in one. In about next 3-5 years, you'll see a few more auto manufacturers coming to Pakistan. The Chinese are already in advance negotiations with the government of Punjab to setup a new plant there with TOT.

Europeans are assessing the market and the Pakistani economy. The US companies will come too. Just a matter of time, the electric issue starts to get resolved in the next two years, you'll see a sea of investment and manufacturing plants in Pakistan

Tata isis a big company dude.
Just look at their new engines.
REVOTRON engine family.
I liked their petrol engines.

There is already a chinese car in Pakistan by the name of FAW and its sales have started to pick up specially there van XPV. They have also introduced a car on the basis of 2nd generation Vitz and that is the only car in 1.3 litre under 11,00,000 with all those features that exist nowhere in Suzuki or merely in used JDM.

Wow it's expensive for a hatchback car.

By our standards its a hell lot cheaper. Let me give you a comparison. Suzuki Swift in Pakistan which is also 1.3 litre manual with same features costs 1,282,000.

If anyone is interested in more information about Pakistan's automotive industry, here is a link to Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA)

The site is a bit shabby and a few links don't work, but it gives a good overall picture with stats etc.

This is TATA Bolt hatchback with price tag of 4.44 lac to 6.06 lac INR (7.08 lac to 9.6 lac PKR) with warranty of 3 years and 75000 kms (whichever is earlier).

These cases of simply loot.

almost 13Lakhs for a suzuki swift hatchback :o:

. .
Actually more like the late 70s.

I can't agree more with your assessments. All the French and Italian companies you mentioned are not sold in the U.S. probably since the late 90s due to poor reviews.

Volkswagen has some historical bad rep in the U.S. It is only recently that any of their models have cracked the top 20 list.

Toyota Camry is the top selling sedan in the U.S. but keep in mind this is a $25K car. So that a big step up from $6500.

Do correct me I have not yet visited the US but am I right in my assessment that Germans manufacturers like BMW,Mercedes-Benz and VW Group including Audi are gaining a massive market with the Japanese already established there?

Plus what bad rep does VW have? VW dominates Europe and its on crusade to Asia, Hell VW from 1980's are still visible on British roads now that is successful!

Few years back i always use to say that Indian Giants such as TATA should be allowed to invest in Pakistan, perhaps open a plant and start assembling the nanos. It would have given Pakistan certain advantages
To name a few
1) A new auto mobile maker which is cheaper yet advanced compared to shitty Mehran. More choice for the average buyer.
2) More jobs
3) Strategic impacts as well as Indian Giants will have a stake in Pakistan that means people like Ajit Doval out of business. Less hostility.

Importing better carsm, manufacturing cars locally and what not. But what about the taxes that make even the cheapest car unaffordable?

.
Yup.:tsk:

Their are plans from Mahindra with local Pakistani player to build Mahindra vehicle under licence but it shelved due to pressure from local assemblers on GoP.

Are you sure about this? Havent heard any news regarding this. Shameful on part of GOP if true. Alot could be achieved by letting Indian players in the market.

Yes, in fact MoU are signed but later backtracked on agreement due to pressure.
