The prevailing opinion among Pakistanis is that Jews who purchased land from Arabs in Palestine have no current right to retain their life, liberty, and property, correct? Is that "radical" or not?

I suppose there are two reasons why Pakistanis like yourself might consider him "abnormal": refusing to convert under threat and even after beating, and perhaps brain damage due to concussions he may have sustained at the hands of angry Pakistanis.

It's unclear to me whether Fishel has actually gotten his ID card "corrected" now or will in the near future. The officials who would do so are themselves threatened, yes?

Use your pathetic american brain. The Pakistani institutions rose above bigotry today and worked for freedom of religion. That is something to celebrate unlike mosque or even Synagogue attacks in America.

Any man or woman should be free to profess the religion of his or her choice. It is a matter of freedom. Whatever the persons views we have advanced too far to impose religion in any form or manner. We are not in those times.

As far as conversion from Islam is concerned its occurring due to terrorism and has its roots in abbhorence to violence. I am not saying Islam promotes this but the behavior of modern muslims is less than satisfactory, rather un-Islamic too considering suicide bombing and senseless killing is anti Islam. His father was Muslim so NADRA had him registered as a muslim also, he was raised Jewish by his mother and identified with Judaism so asked the ministry to legally change his religion to Judaism. No permission required, as its just for the purposes of ID.

This kind of thing probably happens all the time, but because he belongs to a very small Jewish population it made the news.

As I understand it, if you are born to a Jewish mother and haven't converted to another religion of your own free will then you are a Jew under Jewish religious law, regardless of what it says on a piece of paper or how you were brought up. So since Fishel's mother was a Jew that makes him a Jew, too: there's no "conversion" question about it.
