Pakistani data.

1.67m and 65kg. Males
1.54 and 58kg Females

Lack of nutritional food, lack of exercise, close cousin marriage etc. Is there one main factor?

This is expected when sources of quality protein and calcium are expensive. Meat, eggs and milk need to be cheap or the people will become weak and small and it will take generations to recover. Make fun of IK venture of lifestock but it was brilliant.

Great thread. Poor dietary choices and childhood healthcare are a problem. It's not necessarily true that so called high quality protein is lacking. It would help if eggs and meat were cheaper, however, pulses and kidney beans can be a great substitute for poorer families. Certain key minerals may also be missing in poorer household diets (iodine is often overlooked).

Cereals and bread and milk should all be fortified.

These are general points. Perhaps to some extent they're already in place but we need to see carefully how other nations (e.g. China) overcame similar problems over the last 50 years and try to implement the same.

I'm 182cm and quite short in my family. But I'm from the North so we might be taller.

One of most important and less talked about factor is general availability of trash foods like sub-sub par chips and candies and lack of parental discipline in preventing their children from utilizing these trash foods, which are so commonly available and no government regularity body to keep these things in check...Most kide consume these junks instead of taking meals at proper times..In my opinion , this is one of the most pressing reasons for the dismal stats regarding health parameters...

Pollution and malnutrition are the principle causes. Consanguineous marriages are a lazy excuse, Egyptian royals were seriously inbred and still maintained their tall stature relative for their time period. And it's not like we aren't taller than far less inbred countries.

Regardless, malnutrition is an easy fix. Pollution? Not so much, because we'd have to bomb ourselves, China and India to smithereens to largely fix that within our region, but even then, there's still the rest of the world. Heck, beyond that, there's still the fact that we just can't reverse some of this damage.

EDIT:

To further add, @Imran Khan 's idea also seems important to mention. We simply produce too many babies, and most of our families don't have enough resources to sufficiently feed them all (due to poverty).

Food, especially nutritional food. Looking at the amount of oil being used in Pakistani food is just one example.

Food determines mostly, all other factors are very small. The amount of obesity in the US is high but the height and weight hasn't declined.
people must stop making extra useless babies and follow teo kids policy then every kid will have proper food and diet .

That's a very wrong assumption.......lack of supply does not exist. If it exists in some cases, it can be fixed but why do that when your goal is to control prices to fatten yourself and your kids am I right?

Even zero kid policy won't change the status of poor peoples in a country like Pakistan, better stop blaming people for state and institutional failure.

I call him the Mao of PDF.....his ideas might look good on paper but in reality.....they'll bring forth the tens of millions of death caused by the Cultural Revolution.

My parents are cousins and I've got a good BMI. It probably has to do more with low quality junk food and malnutrition.

anyhow people will die sir
check pregnancy death rate
check kids under 5 deaths
check number of people dying for not having clean water
check number of people dying for food shortage
check number of people dying for not having medical facilities

they will die anyway if they never control it . cant you see thar ?

I can see that. People will always die, nothing you can do about it. But if you want to control it....don't do it China style.

Otherwise you'll be left with over 10M (million) boys and a ageing population in the future (current Chinese situation). Then you'll see the amount of rapes increase too (India) or pimps moving girls from neighboring countries into Pakistan, also what China does.

Like I said, looks good on paper but reality is much more complex.
