Pakistani-Americans: Stand Up and Be Counted in Census 2010

Please call and ask for the form. It's important!

They recommend waiting till April 12.

I hope you show a similar spirit when GoP manages to squeeze funds for the census that has been delayed for 2 years already.

Off topic but kudos to GoI for initiating the world's biggest ever administrative process through their census. I hope that when we do the next census, GoP facilitates people who have not managed to get CNICs during the process and save its operating expenses as well.

Are you serious? Don't fill it out. Your inviting trouble if you. And the census violates our constitutional rights.

Amendment Four

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

This is a violation of unreasonable search - the citizens are not being secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects.

Amendment 5

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

For Amendment 5 the case can be made that by providing the government with personal information the citizenry is ceding this right to avoid compulsion of witness against themselves

Please carefully check out all of threads and posts on defence.pk todate. You'll find that most of them are not about India.

Im sure you have noticed that I already have checked all your posts. Common we all know what happened in your previous threads that were closed, my only request is to not be overly critical about the negative aspects of India and post solutions and not focus on the everyday “Toilet threads”. A man with your kind of experience must not fall to such levels.

The information provided on census forms is protected by the law, and it can not be used for any purpose other than for the count 2010.

Patriot Act can over ride this if needed.

I'm afraid you are wrong.

In a democracy, numbers give you power.

The benefits of being counted significantly outweigh any potential risks to the community.

All of us, regardless of our race, religion or national origin, must stand up and be counted in our best interest.

On a serious note what is going to be done to take care of this lack of toilets problem. :police:

Isn't it your constitutional duty?

In Article 1, Section 2, the Constitution includes the phrase:

[An] Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.

While you can argue that the census has gone beyond what the US constitution demanded, I'm flabbergasted by the heightened sense of privacy. How does asking the race, gender, names and ages of those living in a house violate privacy?

It can only be beneficial to demographics and ultimately be useful for fund distribution.

I really think it is great that the people of Pakistan aren't really pissed off about the state collecting their fingerprints or maintaining a facial recognition database. We allow the state much powers without bickering about them asking our names and gender.

Good for you sir, You can't say as pakistani proudly and loudly in USA. That is fact. You can't see any restuarant or store as Pakistani. They just put india name also there. Like "Indian and pakistani restaraunt". Indian establishment don't put pakistan name in their business.

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Plenty of Pakistani restaurants in the states, but then again how on earth would you know that living on a glacier?

It seems you rather enjoy imagining the Pakistani community living in misery and also have an inflated sense of self importance. Outside India this is known as being backward, but if you prefer living in your own dreamland rather than getting to grips with reality, we wont stop you. Though, I have to point out that you came to this forum for all the wrong reasons and an attitude like this will get you labelled a troll sooner or later.

We all know exactly what your purpose is here and there are more suitable forums around for that, but this isnt one. :welcome:

@IW.. I strongly urge you to not take this line of arguement in this thread.. All threads should not degenerate into India vs Pakistan..

As we speak of the US Census 2010, there is a much bigger census exercise taking place in India this year that goes well beyond name and gender data collection.

In addition to photos and finger-prints for the world' largest biometric data-base and issuance of national ID cards , they are also counting toilets.

The Associated Press: From 1 to 1.2B, India counting and ID'ing citizens

Stop being ignorant anybody who puts up the word Indian is doing it just for the business of attracting more customers not out of fear. Putting "Indian" also means special care is taken for Hindu vegetarians in cooking vegetarian dishes. Seriously get an education before making tall claims like that.
