Pak population at over 235 million: Census

Large population might not be a bad thing, you guys are missing the point.

The growth rate is the issue. Pakistan’s fertility rate is alarmingly high. That trend needs to go down fast. The rate of growth is the core issue.

Imagine if Pakistan’s growth rate was much lesser, and we’d have 200m instead of 250m. Imagine how less food staples we’d have to import and how our exports could have been better.

.
There is no population control in Indonesia. Unlikely to happen in any democracy country. It is more due to women education and their increase participation in the economy work force.
you are correct. Women were educated and therefore considered planning their families correctly.

.
Larger populations are better than smaller populations in general. Many developed countries are now feeling that and desperately trying to increase their population. But I agree with you that we need to educate and properly manage large populations cuz only then will it benefit the country. And even if large population causes many Pakistanis to go overseas at least it will increase remittances and Pakistans soft power.
Bro, now we are 250 million strong with $400 billion dollar economy. lol.

Proper management is the key requirement.

the key term for all of this is "overpopulation"

Africa has 1.2 billion people but largest land mass in the world.

South Asia has 2 billion people and is only like 1/6 of africa.

thus population is not a good thing when we're not japan or korea levels of development.

thus i did my part and left to help with overpopulation

ISLAMABAD: While halting the digital census for Eid, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) announced on Friday that so far 235 million people had been counted — a whopping increase of 27m, or 12.98 per cent, since 2017.

That year’s census had put the country’s population at 207.68m.

The digital census operations will resume after Eid holidays in the light of directives from the Census Monitoring Committee (CMC), said Sarwar Gondal, the PBS spokesperson.

He said field activities for the seventh Population and Housing Census had been halted from April 21 to April 25 for Eid.

According to an official announcement, more than 16.5m individuals had been counted in Karachi so far, while Lahore’s population had crossed 11.5m.

The number of individuals counted so far in Punjab is over 116m while in Sindh 52m people had been counted.

The corresponding figure for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is 39m and for Balochistan it is 19m.

The statistics show that the country’s population, as well as the numbers for Karachi and Lahore, had witnessed a substantial increase.

Real-time monitoring

The real-time data progress monitoring dashboards, developed in partnership with NADRA and provided by PBS to the provincial and district governments, help provincial governments in identifying any abnormalities, any areas missed and other emerging anomalies on a daily basis.

The data received is analysed every day at the PBS headquarters and immediately communicated to the provinces for their resolution to ensure timely response and complete coverage.

The current housing and population census is a historic milestone since it is the first digital count of its kind in South Asia.

The move towards digitisation has allowed provincial and district governments to immediately identify the missed areas by using geo-tagged houses and the quality of data entered for them by enumerators in real-time.

The PBS has further supported the provincial and district governments by setting up a helpline, 080057574, and SMS gateway 9727, where people can call for queries or report anyone or any area missed.

A total of 495 census support centres are now working as points of referral for all missed areas.

The current methodology ensures universal inclusion, meaning that each and every individual living in a location for six months, or planning to live there for another six months, and who will be using resources around that location regardless of their nationality, geography, ethnicity, identity, affiliations, politics, caste or creed, will be counted.

As per the General Statistics Reorganisation Act 2011 and UN Conventions, the census is a national duty to inform policymaking, decision-making, future planning, and development.

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has digitally transformed the census for ease of use while ensuring verifiability, transparency and accountability.

The exemplary work by the provincial and district governments has given hope that Pakistan is moving in the right direction, bringing it at par with those nations that conduct their census by using technology to various degrees. These include the United States, the United Kingdom, India, Iran, Egypt, and Bangladesh.

Regards

My 2 cents:

1.It is good that population is still growing. Means that if Pak can still invest in education and healthcare, it can reap a demographic dividend.
2.Great to see Pak using digital tech to carry out Census. Hope India will follow suit.

235 million savages who only know how to eat and shit. Nothing productive. Just breeding like rabbits. This is a terrible development. A country that can barely do anything productive an provide for its people is imploding.

Who will make this trend go down? Bilawal and Showbaz?

Having a large pool of human resources is a good thing.

Good we are at 250 million people now.

.
Maybe they weren't able to count them properly back then.
According to estimates pak should have had somewhere between 195-200 million population in 2017 whereas the results of the 2017 census showed it had 213 million. There is an incentive to show high numbers since resources and seats are distributed on the basis of numbers.

When children cost little and pay off well enough, parents keep on having kids. It’s a literal pyramid scheme of support. Classic for pre (or de-) industrialized nations, especially those dependent on subsistence agriculture.

Also, you can’t blame people (not savages) from doing what they can to survive. Spend more on education and fund enough social services to increase employment and watch marriage get delayed and people decrease number of children they have. It’s a well established trend.

It’s not hopeless, even if if the population grows 60%, it is expected to be capped at 400 million. Also, with such a large population, the prospects for the economy to grow significantly are there if managed correctly. Pakistan could be the sixth largest economy in the world in 50 years.

Pakistan should be preparing for a world where it is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world in only 25 years. It should prepare itself to set the cultural benchmarks for the Muslim population in the region, and act like the heirs of a thousands of years old civilization; IVC or Meluha (possibly older then Sumer in Mesopotamia and the Egyptian civilization), not just any ole nation.

By the time it is 2075, I would be a very old man by then.

Pakistan population is actually 250 million now according to world factbook and wikipedia.

Projections are good but when you sit on your ar$e and keep on changing governments and pulverize every other institution then the projections just go down the drain.
