Even though we won our games - we have had one disaster after another in all our games. Something to reflect upon that India would come down really hard in a do or die match and anything short of our best won't cut it.

There are many Indian batsmen, who we don't even know how to bowl to and it seems like our bowlers are just NEVER able to get out.

Kohli, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Raina, Gambhir and of course Sehwag will return.

The same strategy of using Yasir Arafat to target the off stump may not work as these are the players who hit sixes on square cuts!

They have to really straight.

Gul needs to learn to get his yorkers in order, he can't keep bowling full length or full toss deliveries.

People are being really watchful against Ajmal so he has decided to allow them some width in the hope to get some wickets. I think such baiting is not required, Ajmal's fear is what does the trick for the rest of the team. He should bowl in his deadly self all the time.

Batting... Unfortunately theres nothing that can be done. Top 3 have to fire.

Indians ko apne ooper haavi na honay doh. That is how they have won against us in all these games, they start off with fliers and try to position themselves into a dominating platform.

and of course sab log dua goh raho, inshAllah we'll play well.

.
This is my anaysis on our batting power after watching the past 3 matches.

Imran Nazir is the key opener here. He must control his temparement and not aim to blast off all the ball that is bowled at him. He is a good hitter, but unfortunately makes too many batting mistakes such as the recent match, which eventually snowball into a batting collapse. Other than that, he is really a batter to be looked out for.

Hafeez, I think is doing fine. His batting has definitely improve from the last time during the England's T20 series. He just have to keep playing his natural game and I am sure all will go fine Inshallah.

Nasir Jamshed, together with Imran Nazir, I feel is our trump card here in the batting side. A lot of expectations is on him, so he has to play a responsible innings as well as to choose his shots well. His shot against the Proteas recently, I felt was totally unnecessary and uncalled for, and therefore contributing to the batting collapse.

Umar Akmal has once again proven to be very dependable after the recent innings against Proteas. He I feel have matured a lot as a batsman from the last time I have seen him. He is last player in the batting line up I would hope could turn the game around, should any mishap happens ( touch wood). Continue playing your game Umar!

Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik, has proven very effective during the warm up match against India, scoring huge runs. But after that, I failed to see anything special from these both. Let's just hope they continue playing like they did against India and provide some vital runs.

As for Afridi, he has lost touch with his batting. This is not the first, or even the second time he has been bowled out for a duck. He has honestly failed to play a proper innings, such as playing shots on his first ball. This has to be the most dissapointing fact for Pakistan playing 11, as Afridi has been a match winning player on many occasions. He's probably going to be treated as a pinch-hitter after this last match.

As for the Tail enders, Gul has so far proved to be very dependable on a few occasions. BUT, we should not take this for granted, as not everyday will be a lucky day. So far I believe only Ajmal and Gul can actually bat. I am not sure of Raza Hassan, and Yasir has not proven well enough.

I believe against India, should play with Abdul Razzaq. He not only provide batting power, but will also helps us in our Bowling. He is seriously underrated, and I don't understand why the Captain has not inducted him into the playing XI. His performance in both batting and bowling against the T20 against Australia, as well as his past matches, is why I believe, is the need of the hour. But the disadvantage here is Razzaq he has not been getting that much exposure in T20 matches recently, which could be a problem. But I am sure its still worth a try.

My analysis on India's performances and players

The recent 9 wicket loss against Australia has definitely woke up India. It looks like their 5 bowling line up didn't really proved to be effective against Australia. Amongst all their bowlers, only Zaheer Khan has performed well in that match, including a few LBW shouts which should have gone their way. With this loss, I am sure MS Dhoni will bring back Sehwag and should play 4 bowlers. Amongst all the batters out there, the one I am dead worried about is none other than Virat Kohli.

Let's look at the stats of Virat Kohli.

183 runs against Pakistan during the Asia Cup.
72 runs against Pakistan during the T20 warm up.

This guy is dangerously on form, and has played marvellous shot. He is definitely the trump card for the Indian batting line up. Pakistan bowlers must try to bowl really tight to him, and better still, try to get him out as soon as possible.

Gambhir is also dangerous, but he has not been in touch lately, but still, its best to bowl well to him.

Sehwag has to be the second most dangerous one after Virat. His strike rate has been impressive, and there is a need to bowl him out as well. So these are the 3 batsmen I find has to be taken out as early as possible.

My analysis on the strategy Pakistan should employ

Fast bowlers should bowl as tight as possible during the power plays. Anything even just wide and short could lead to boundaries. Low Full toss is a no-no as well. Umar Gul is the key here. He is our only true fast bowler who can reverse swing, and bowl accurate and deadly yorkers. Yasir Arafat should back him up with those as well. In addition they should call Abdul Razzaq to bowl as well. Pakistan should not bowl Sohail Tanvir or Muhammad Sami. Muhammad Sami has pace, but he just hasnt been able to connect it well and leaked too much runs. Sohail Tanvir has been below average in my opinion as well and his fielding has just not helped as well.

Our spin trio, are our wicket-taking options here. Shahid Afridi with his Googly, Muhammad Hafeez with his Off-Spins, and our star, Saeed Ajmal, with his Doosras, will be the key here. Hafeez have to choose his options well. They should bowl tight, and they must not allow to leak as much boundaries as the Fast bowlers. Depending on the pitch, they should put in Raza Hassan. However, its a risky option. Raza Hassan is still new to the scene, and there is a possibility we could make the same mistake as the last ODI in playing 4 spinners. I am expecting our spinners to take out the high order batsmen during the match.

Not forgetting, our fielders have to play well. Stop boundaries with a little bit of Athleticism, react well for a run out, and most importantly CATCHES. Remember Catches win Matches. Kamran Akmal, I hope will really keep well, because he has drop some chances.

Remember this is my own analysis and opinions. Its subjected to debate here. Whatever happens, win or loss, its just a game. All Pakistan has to do is just to play its natural game. So all the best Pakistan and

Probable Two teams would be

India (probable): 1 Virender Sehwag, 2 Gautam Gambhir, 3 Virat Kohli, 4 Yuvraj Singh, 5 Suresh Raina, 6 Rohit Sharma/Manoj Tiwary, 7 MS Dhoni (capt. & wk), 8 Irfan Pathan, 9 R Ashwin, 10 Harbhajan Singh, 11 Zaheer Khan

Pakistan (probable) 1 Mohammad Hafeez (capt.), 2 Imran Nazir, 3 Nasir Jamshed, 4 Kamran Akmal (wk), 5 Shoaib Malik, 6 Umar Akmal, 7 Shahid Afridi, 8 Umar Gul, 9 Yasir Arafat, 10 Saeed Ajmal, 11 Raza Hasan.

. .
i think pakistan will lose, not because i believe india is a superior team, i think they are about even, but its because india will choke less than pakistan.

also, pakistan have someone like malik who will score 13 off 17 balls and hand the initiative to india, plus you have streaky unreliable players throughout the pakistan batting line up.

i think pakistan need to bat first, they need to really really go after their quick bowlers then pressure india when they bat, because india will be able to go after arafat, gul and maybe even hafeez big time.

It’s India v Pakistan tonight: World T20
By AFP
Published: September 29, 2012
COLOMBO:
Pakistan will look to extend their dominant form and put India on the brink of elimination when the old foes clash in the World Twenty20 Super Eights match today.

Pakistan have never beaten India in either the 50-over World Cup or the World Twenty20, but Mohammad Hafeez’s men start as favorites in the much-awaited Super Eights game in Colombo.

Pakistan are the team in form, winning both matches in the preliminary league before stunning top-ranked South Africa by two wickets in their first Super Eights game on Friday.

In contrast, Australia annihilated India by nine wickets later the same evening, leaving MS Dhoni’s men needing to beat Pakistan and South Africa to stay in contention for the semi-finals. But if Australia beat South Africa and Pakistan defeat India in Sunday’s double-header, both winners will advance to the semi-finals from what was billed as the ‘group of death’.

Hafeez said that his team is confident of getting a positive result against India.
“Everyone is looking forward to the India match,” said Hafeez. “Since we have won against them in the warm-up game, it will give us confidence going into the match. That victory has been a real morale booster for us and the boys are upbeat and raring to go against India.”

Pakistan seamer Umar Gul, an unlikely hero with the bat against South Africa with a power-packed 32 off 17 balls, acknowledged that there will be pressure on both sides.
“When we play India, there is lot of pressure because our people always want us to win,” said Gul. “The same is the case in India, so there will be pressure on both teams. Anything can happen. We will give it our best shot. India is a very good team, but we know each other’s strong and weak points. In T20, it depends on how a team plays on that day.”

India has never won a Super Eights match
India, winners of the inaugural World Twenty20 in South Africa in 2007, failed to win even one Super Eights game in the next two editions, in England in 2009 and the Caribbean in 2010. Skipper Dhoni, however, put a positive spin on his team’s do-or-die scenario ahead of the sold-out game at the 35,000-capacity Premadasa Stadium.
“It is always good to be in a situation where you have to win every game,” said Dhoni. “There is no scope for complacency and that is a good thing. You have to be at your best throughout. Hopefully we can go out and express ourselves without worrying too much about the result.”

Shastri, Manjrekar question Yuvraj's hasty comeback
ESPNcricinfo staff
September 29, 2012
Former India players Ravi Shastri and Sanjay Manjrekar have questioned the hasty comeback of Yuvraj Singh after he recovered from cancer earlier this year. Both feel he is not back to full fitness. Shastri said Yuvraj should be left out for the crucial Super Eights match against Pakistan on Sunday, and Manjrekar said he should have been left out of the game against Australia too.

"My contention is, [for] eight months Yuvraj Singh has hardly played cricket, and when it comes to India vs Pakistan I'm not the kind to get emotional," Shastri told TIMES NOW. "I want to pick the best team and beat them. You can't be sentimental here, but be practical."

"My team would have Sehwag opening the innings, especially against Australia," Manjrekar told ESPNcricinfo. "I think it was an opportunity missed, because that was the kind of attack Sehwag likes on this kind of a pitch.

"I would have dropped Yuvraj Singh from my team in that last match, purely because we have seen in the last few matches Yuvraj Singh is still not quite 70% or 80%, maybe it is time now to slowly get him to work on his fitness, keep him involved in Indian cricket, but leaving out Sehwag was not such a good idea because he does what you need right at the start of the innings: put the opposition under pressure."

Yuvraj was included in the World Twenty20 squad, ahead of Ajinkya Rahane, even before he had had any serious match practice, and has played only a handful of T20s since undergoing chemotherapy in March. Shastri said Yuvraj's rustiness was obvious.

"We got to see if Yuvraj is 100% fit, and let's not think about Yuvraj 10 months ago," Shastri said. "No question that he straight away could have walked into any side in world cricket at that time, but having seen him he's still rusty and he's still a bit slow." Yuvraj has scored 60 runs in four T20I matches, and taken four wickets since his return.

No question that he straight away could have walked into any side in world cricket [ten months ago], but having seen him he's still rusty and he's still a bit slow
Shastri on Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj is not the only thorny issue Dhoni has to grapple with. Sehwag's exclusion from the previous match, in which Australia thrashed India by nine wickets, has divided opinion. Shastri said he should be picked against Pakistan at the expense of Yuvraj. "If you go in with three fast bowlers and two spinners, then you have to think about your batting line-up and if Sehwag has to come - which I think he should - then who do you drop in that middle order, and one batsman that comes up is Yuvraj Singh.

"It's not the question of what Yuvraj Singh can do but what is his current state of mind after what he has done and you have to respect that. You can't be too greedy and ask too much from that body that quickly."

Shastri also talked up the impact Sehwag could have on the Pakistan match. "You just have to look at Sehwag's record against Pakistan - it's Bradman-like when you look at his average against them. So Sehwag will have the psychological edge when he gets out there plus the fact that he's been asked to sit out, and I think rightly so, in the last game against Australia, he'll be fired up." Sehwag averages 91.14 against Pakistan in Tests, but only 35.72 against them in ODIs, which is almost exactly the same as his career average. He has played only one T20I against them.

Sehwag's omission in the last game effectively facilitated the inclusion of a third specialist spinner, who had combined figures of 6.5-0-66-0 against Australia. Manjrekar was against going in with three of them for the Pakistan match. "The key is going to be the pitch, let's assume the pitch is going to be the same as we had in the last match, still three spinners is a bit too much, Sehwag has to come back in," he said.

"Even if they want Yuvraj Singh in there, they can get Virender Sehwag in and maybe drop one spinner, either Harbhajan Singh or Piyush Chawla, the choice is up to the captain who they want. I would go for a variation, because when you have Chawla you have a variation of R Ashwin and Chawla as the legspinner, but after his last performance I doubt whether Chawla will get another match if India is playing two specialist spinners."

Shastri said there was no need to play three spinners, given the number of part-time options India had. He also said there was no way India should be opening with Irfan Pathan, which denies their best batsmen the use of crucial overs of a 20-over match.

India's big defeat against Australia means their net run-rate has taken a beating, and they will probably need to win both their remaining Super Eight matches to qualify.
