Pakistan needs to replace China with Russia

.
First off Russia needs China more as many point that out I dont see India being to close to Moscow in the coming decades as India will be buying more western tech as its becomes its poodle as for Pakistan and Russia realistic wise it will be cordial but no way close to what China invests and supports Islamabad

Like it or not future is china and not Russia. I m sure Russian gas reserves are a fraction of Arab oil reserves. So are arabs the future??

They are not tech savvy as Chinese are

I think his stand point is diversifying arms imports which is why I suggest the OP to change the title

Yup, like refusing to fire s-300 missile and happily allow Israel to raid Syria Assad at will...

No wonder Assad is angry at Russia.

This has made Russia into a joke as of now, and not to forget how the US mowed down Russians as well without any sort of retaliation.

That is why instead of coldly remaining in opposing corners. We should engage with them. Warm up to them and negotiate areas of influence, trade, business etc etc.
We would still be a weaker power. Can't beat em join em as they say.

That way it will be better than having nothing.

Pakistanis need to get into the mindset of making $$. Harboring, Fostering, Growing manufacturing and business is key.

Most Pakistanis I've come are content with simply being "assemblers" not even true manufacturers and being 3rd party suppliers that's it.
Find some Russians and ask them what they think of Muslims and esp Turkey and Pakistan. Prepare to get your eyes opened.

Iran and Syria are countries which are part of the problem and not the solution. Iran specifically is unfriendly towards Pakistan.

Russia tried to gain access by force, they failed. They actively interfered in BD formation and in trying to overtly invade us.

Pakistan is a potential regional adversary of Russia. Our expanding influence in Central Asia means they will have less. It will mean Islamization of those countries. Iran's decreasing role in Afghanistan is not seen positively by them either.

I am huge Russophile I admit and I amgenerally positive about Russia and unlike most Pakistanis who grew up listening that the USSR as threat I saw the end of the USSR was tragic as it gave way to American led unipolar world but the revisionist from Khurshchev to Brezhnev all the way to Gorbachev made huge blunders shatting on China not being detente with west and the whole avoidable mess in Afghanistan waste of decade for the Soviets there but now Russia has no choice whether to like it or not to pair up with Beijing cause The Warsaw Pact is gone Baltics are in the EU color revolutions in Georgia,Ukraine has dimished Russian influence and threat of that occurring to Moscow increases so Russia needs China more than the opposite for Pakistan I think ties with Moscow will grow closer due to involvements in Afghanistan and China wanting to pull the strings in Eurasia

That's the problem with the mentality we stilll think in terms of the 1980s Cold War tropes need to diversify relations with all sides

Pakistan has been trying this strategy, but there is a lot of resistance in Russia. You have to realize that Central Asian countries are coming out of the grip of Russia and Islamization is proceeding at a rapid pace.

With Afghanistan being ruled by Taliban and Pakistan led by a Islamic-minded PTI government, Russia is fearful.

The other issue is that India is a cash cow. They are buying alot from Russians and paying alot for parts, support, etc.

Russia is an ideological expansionist state, much like the US, and very unlike China. They have alot of historical complaints about Muslims, it seems that whenever they put their hands in anything, they dig up an ants nest of Mujahideen, whether in Afghanistan, Bosnia, or Syria.

It took me some time, but I have finally done it for Pakistan: China replaced with Russia.

. . . . .
What I mean is that, the supply channels are diversified, and Pakistan can choose from China, Russia and the United States to suit itself

It is not the question of Supply Chain/Channel/Sources.

It is the question of how Pakistan uses her precious money.

US & West is in alliance with India to confront China. Pakistan will never partner with the West as China are our ally and both Pakistan and China consider India as our enemy. Hence putting our defence money into West is a big NO.

Now coming to China, every dollar we pay China is a wasted dollar. It is like paying your wife to have a affair. China has no option but to support Pakistan. So paying China is totally useless.

The only country where Pakistan should invest and will reap benefits is with Russia.

Russia approved engines for JF-17s even as India was buying SU-30s. Now they no longer have any major deals going. They only have some small deals for spares.

S400 is not a major deal? T90 tanks is not major deal? Brahmos partenrship is not major? They are also looking at SU35 and Mig35, SU30 upgradation deal is also huge. Those initial engines for JF17 were bought by china. Apart from defence do u know the volume of business between india and russia?

T-90 (2001) and SU-30 (2000) are two decade old deals. India will not buy SU-35 or MIG-35. They are going with US fighter for their MMRCA deal. S-400 will be scrapped like their FGFA deal once the THAAD deal with the US is finalized later this year.
