Pakistan may study other fighter options as US asks Pakistan to make full payment for F-16 purchase

I would be very happy when the yanks block this sale, we seriously need to move on from that state it's about damn time.

But pseudo liberals would work tirelessly to make sure that something like this which is in Pakistan's interest to ever take place.
The less we depend on US for arms the better it gets for oyr domestic arms industry these funds could be used for future fc 31 procurements

WASHINGTON (Dunya News) – United States (US) Congress Committee has interrupted financial aid worth USD 430 million to Pakistan putting sale of eight F-16 fighter jets on the line once again, Dunya News reported Friday.

Department of State stated to a British journal that Obama government is in favour of supplying F-16s to Pakistan but US aid would not be used for the purpose.

Pakistan cannot afford to pay around USD 700 million for eight fighter jets and necessary equipment. As per the previous understanding, United States was to grant USD 430 million while Pakistan was to pitch in USD 270 million for the sale.

On the other hand United States Congress has also halted provision of USD 74.2 million funds for Pakistan under military aid package.

Pakistani embassy’s spokesperson in the United States, Nadeem Hotiana said that the US administration has already supported F-16s sale to Pakistan however purchase of arms and ammunition is a lengthy and time-taking procedure.

He said that India had lobbied against Pakistan regarding the sale while some members of the Congress had also criticised the deal. They had said that F-16s could be used against India, he added.

Indian External Affairs Ministry had made it clear in February that it would not buy the argument that the deal would help Pakistan combat terrorism.

"We are disappointed at the decision of the Obama Administration to notify the sale of F-16 aircrafts to Pakistan. We disagree with their rationale that such arms transfers help to combat terrorism," Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup had tweeted.
Earlier in March, the motion to supply F-16s to Pakistan garnered success in the US Senate with an overwhelming 71 to 24 margin.

The deal between the two sides was kept alive for the past five years however, Obama government announced in February to go through with the sale formally.

In February, Secretary of State John Kerry, while testifying to the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee defended the deal.

Kerry lauded Pakistan’s efforts in war on terror and said that the country is an ally in fight against extremism and has been deeply engaged.

Senators had 30 days to express reservations in the matter after formal announcement by the United States on February 12. Senator Bob Corker, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, sharply questioned the plans to sell F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan within the given time.

It should be noted here that the deal is in accordance with US foreign policy s objectives and national security goals of improved security of strategic partner in the South Asia.

The deal involves sale of eight nuclear-capable Lockheed Martin Corp F-16 fighter jets, radar and other equipment.

Responsibility for Congress agreement rests with Obama admin: Tareq Fatemi
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – With Pakistan’s F-16 fighter jets’ sale hanging in the balance, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (PM) Tariq Fatemi Saturday stated that the responsibility for making the US Congress agree rests with the Obama administration.

Talking with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Fatemi stated that a sentiment against the provision of military and financial aid to foreign countries was found within the Congress.

Fatemi further stated that the US administration’s offer of military aid to Pakistan was present.

Answering a question regarding the Congress denial of approving an aid offered by the US government for the purchase of F-16 fighter jets, Fatemi stated that this deal was not over yet.

Divorce Time ;)
Every nation has its own vision of future, strategic goals, opportunities, and threat perception. Pakistan needs ICBMs or not may be debatable. But the intellectual diarrhea that is obviously spreading is DC and Delhi probably has a couple of genuine reasons. Some regional countries (well, no need to hide the names - India and Afghanistan with support from elements in a couple of other countries) were fully engaged in a dirty war against Pakistan by using terrorism to sabotage the CPEC project. Some other global powers were supporting (and disgracefully participating in the terrorism unleashed against the people of Pakistan) in hopes that regional alliance of terrorist states would succeed in sabotaging the CPEC project. But the arrest of Hindu terrorist monkey (Commander Kul Bhusham Jadhav, who was running a vast terrorist network from Iran) turned the tables on these terrorist states and served as a rude shock for their global patrons in terrorism. On top of that, the news of Pakistani plans of conducting an ICBM test later this year caused even more sever diarrhea to the terrorist masterminds at global and regional levels. The news of blocking funds for F-16 planes didn't come just out of the blue. Don't forget that Taliban were befriended and welcome in DC for talks on gas pipeline passing through Afghanistan but as soon as they (Taliban) decided in favor of rival non-US company, the same Taliban were labeled as terrorists and then 9/11 happened. Rest is well known to us all.
There are multiple ways to defeat enemy designs. Every country has its national interests and so does the US. While keeping solidly steadfast on our basic goals (be it the CPEC project or the ICBM test), ways can be found to engage the US in particular and the West in general by offering them some sort of participation in the CPEC project, downstream industries, and guaranteed access to CARs. That will force the US strategic policy makers to review their options. These congressmen and senators are not worth more than monkeys dancing on the fingers of those strategic planners. If we can take the US on board, the evil alliance of regional terrorist states will die down silently. We can rather bleed them later to death.

So, it means that we have 430 mil left in USA.. is there any other way deal to utilize that money or they can just transfer 430 mil to GOP..

@Quwa @fatman17 @MastanKhan @Windjammer @Horus @Irfan Baloch @volatile @Bilal Khan 777 @ACE OF THE AIR @Bratva @Syed.Ali.Haider

As i said elsewhere, these aircraft were not expected to be delivered tomorrow, next week or the next month.
I believe their delivery schedule is from 2018.....alas tomorrow is another day....watch this space.

Pakistani F16s will always remain political. With this deal falling through, the money shall be made available for other initiatives within JF17 to be accelerated by fiscal closing. The loss is to Americans only.
Any thoughts on a replacement platform or are we going to wait for j31?

For wriggling out money from Americans, you would have to give something back to them.

The point here is not when and if this deal would get through, but what you would have to pay for it. Even dole is not free. It extract its price in intangibles.

Indian lobbying was never aimed to scuttle this deal ,but to increase its cost to Pakistan, and this is something which US too wanted. US wanted to extract more concessions from you and that's why they allowed Indians to lobby their congressmen (Indian lobby would not have even created a ripple had US not allowed it to play the game). Now they could simply extract more concessions from you playing this card of difficulty posed by Indian lobbyist (and could even kill this deal using that excuse)

The lobbying was worth only because Pakistan is buying these planes from aid money. It is something which made Pakistan vulnerable. Had Pakistan been buying its F-16 with cash, lobbying would have been redundant as Pakistan when denied F-16 could simply move on to next system: J-10 or Gripen maybe (afterall it has cash).

So what would you pay to Americans for your 8 Planes? Action against Afghan Taliban? Some backstabbing of China? What? A couple of years ago; you may have played "closing military route" card , or even "we would set Afghan Taliban loose on you" card, but with there being practically no American soldiers left in Afghanistan, these cards too have lost their value.

And some fanboys here wants Pakistan to invade Afghanistan.

Indian and Afghan lobby at this but who cares as long as CPEC is there.

All the lobbying on this earth would not have succeeded had US government not wanted it to succeed. US is just using excuse of Indian and Afghan lobby to extract more political concessions from Pakistan, mostly in Afghan sector, ,or a pretext for making Pakistan pay in full as it does not see much benefit in providing aid to Pakistan.

You want another Panama Leak? :P
how is that related to Panama leak?

Congress has the power to fund and defund any Federal program.

sir, i'm not asking about f-16, i'm asking about money 430 mil.. is that money is our or they are just reducing our burden with their money...

And that is? Empty threats carry no weight.
Allah na kare sir :) , I am not threatening anybody, Americans were supplying us with these aircraft with a purpose, which although Obama can see, but others cant. Its for sure we will not do anything, but still this move will cost Americans more than that, but how? I leave this on readers.
Secondly, if Indians can block this deal, then they can block any of our deals with america. Even spare parts could be denied later. But Russia on the other hand, does'nt stop anything on the "requests" by other, atleast it has been in our case.
America is giving us peanuts for what we are doing for them.

The $430 million is not just Pakistan's to take. It was specifically allocated for the purchase of F-16s. Congress said no and now the money is no longer there. The only Pakistan money is the $270 million they contributed to the deal.

If you get screwed out of this deal, it would be Americans who would be screwing you, not Indians. Indians would be just an excuse ,a cover, for Americans to back out of this deal.

No one except Jews (and that too because of Christian fundamentalists) could make USA go against its own interests. This deal has been defunded either because US wants more concessions from you or want you to pay full price.

You want Pakistan to fight your fight and pay for it too, lol nah.

how is that related to Panama leak?
.
Bahi agr direct payment aai gee,, hard cash,, tu leak b ho ge jati naa,, insaan ha bnda bahik he jata.

What we should do right now is arrange for the missing funds, take out from the coffers that are reportedly crossing every limit and breaking every record of amount of wealth Pakistan have found in last couple of years accordingly to our Finance minister. Take a few mission and go through with this deal of F16. Try to buy these 8 or 12 planes. That will go a long way in shaping the future of PAF.
