Pakistan hopes MBS will make brief stopover

Really hope he doesn’t come to Pakistan. Some times tough love is the best love. If he comes, it only prolongs the delusion that’s an Arab prince on a white horse (or white jet) will come and free them of self accountability. It’s also emboldens the current faction of the elite of Pakistan, and that bailout won’t be remembered by the other factions of the elite.

Pakistan needs to realize its partners are doing an “intervention”, telling them to put down the credit card and get a hold of themselves. The Arabs and the Pakistanis are better off if MBS saves his time and money till the hard decision for Pakistan to go into rehab is made.

A major diplomatic success at G20View attachment 952282
How is this different than any other meeting. Also the rail deals are billions spent by the GCC.

It’s big because it raises the stakes but it’s not like the railways will be exclusive to non-Chinese or non-Pakistani trade.

Btw, for CPEC, if the trans-afghan or trans-Karakoram railway is built, it will be a success. It’s in the name; China-Pakistan Economic corridor. Central Asian goods to the Indian Ocean basin and vis a versa. What happens at the G20 doesn’t change that, if it occurs.

Yeah, I think he will have to come to help the current elite save face. The elite need some thing to show the public and distract for a few weeks, till the next distraction.

MBS will says it was just a chat and locally it will be played up like a major foreign policy win in Pakistan, when in reality it will be like the Clinton visit in 2000, a few hours at the airport.

India is against the Indo-Pak hyphenation by US and west, putting both in the same category, by some Arab countries too, just as Pakistan was against the Af-Pak hyphenation.

And this must have been told to all the foreign dignatories years before.

And India would not like a Pak visit by MBS in some kind of a package tour, India now aspires big, a country of 1.44 billion souls.

So most likely MBS will skip Pak now and might do a visit later doling out some throw-aways/freebies for the neutrals to scavenge and lick, a dry bone to the lapdogs, and they'll make hay and become more subservient slaves.

MBS wont even piss on the face of Munira Whisky, forget about 25 billion investment lol.

We actually have to wait for the full details to come out

From what the media is mentioning, if this happens Indian infra firms will get the benefit by building the rail networks overall (in short-term). There will be connectivity to Levant and then Europe, at least this is what the media is saying. In long-term, we get a route to Europe by passing Pakistan perhaps. This is is all conjecture at this point mind you.

For the bolder part mentioned, I agree as no business minded person will try to make something exclusive to just someone. More the partners more the benefits, that's how trade and economics goes. We have to wait and see what this agreement is all about, at least for now.

I guess Saudis getting onboard is a great thing, as they are the top dog in that region.

The comments under the post spell it out. These western initiatives tend to fizzle out, remember “build back better world”.

If it’s investments, it’s national investments by countries, and that infrastructure will be useable by any partner they want to do business with. When Western backed infrastructure will be place, China will come and move their goods on it.

Let's not count chickens before they hatch

Announcing projects and the projects happening on ground is different

We are taking good initiatives with all major countries, and its good. We should however make sure these projects roll out, without any delay.
Italy pulling out of OROB and Indian conglomerate eyeing the Greece port suggest things are moving in the positive direction!!

Saudis have the money and want the influence, especially away from Iran. A rail line through Iraq and then Syria to Turkey and then Europe is the best way to make doing industrial work in the GCC, and making GCC ports viable.

They need a way that GCC ports have to be used.

India already skips Pakistan. Even if it didn’t, india would want to use its own ports. Give business to modi’s pal adani if I’m not mistaken.
