People are stupid if they think we can have bullet trains and also vote parties based on that.

To have them, you have have the infastructure.
Not only that, but the demand should also be always there for them to be carried out everyday.
Then, They have the price of almost the plane fare.

And people here are too cheap on that, so no.
The day they will be introduced will be the first and last for them because no one will use them at all.

. .
When we asked the Chinese about it, they laughed at us. We should consider the 160kmph train under CPEC as a bullet train. We can’t afford an actual bullet train, there’s no market for it,” the railway minister said.

Admitting that their party had faced a lot of criticism over not launching the project, he said that the country didn’t have enough money to build one. “Even if we do, we don’t have such a big range of upper and middle class passengers who will buy tickets.”

There must be either a big misunderstanding or misinterpretation. It just didn't not sound Chinese at all!

We don't laugh at our own brother in need, besides, China needs Pakistan as much as Pakistan needs China in this CPEC initiative.

.
The Bullet train project should be sold to group who can Implement the Project
  • 25 Years Lease and Revenues from Transportation (60%)
  • Government Collects 40% from Profit and Sales Tax
A reasonable deal considering we have 180 Million people who have high demand of travel
locally
  • Pakistan Railways handles 100% Freight , Circular Railways in cities
  • Pakistan Bullet Train Handles Business Class / Upper Middle class (Higher Fare)

Who could be such Investors ?

> Chinese Conglomorate Group Private (Government to Private Entity)
> GCC Country Partners (Saudia/ Qatar or UAE) looking for none-oil revenue
> Russia looking for Enhanced business ties
> UK again looking to get into the CPEC mix

Imaging a Train that runs about 380-400km.hr plus figures

Route 1
Gawadar -Karachi (1.5 Hours - 2 Hours)
622.7 km

Route 2
Karachi - Lahore (3-4 hours)
1225 kilometers

Route 3
Lahore to Islamabad (30 minutes)
168 miles

Route 4:
Islamabad to Pehshawar (Business man from Peshawar can get to Lahore in 1.5 Hours)
186.7 km (1 Hour)

You could technically

> Eat Breakfast in Gawadar
> Reach Karachi pre Noon have a nice Lunch pick up gifts from local shops
> Reach Lahore and have Tea and Dinner , few hours sight seeing
> Hop on Train , reach Islamabad late evening may be
enjoy Evening Kulfi and crash in Hotel in capital
> You can ride for 1 more hour if you choose and get to Peshawar late night

Just think of the Potential of Commerce Travelling Around 3-4 Major cities

  • Train Runs on New Nuclear power based electricity own grid system

If someone want to talk on topic other than Pakistan railways, would you mind opening a new thread?

In our country there are many billionaires because of loot. Even common people will use if have them operational. It will be less than flight fares but more than train faees

I stated somewhere, this content is copied from Indian Times, so content is fine, but the wording may not be accurate.

They promises all the stuff that we already know we can't afford. We are on the other side more foolish and we are accepting these foolish words each and every day and every time they tell us..

History will remember us as one of foolish Muslim nations, and they will laugh

Well, Compared to japan.
Which is a thriving economy 24/7.
Most people who mostly use them are business related.
Along with that, their fare is also quite reasonable given their per capita $$$.
Usually around 11k-14k yens.

But thats not the only thing, there needs to be a demand for it to be that much,
Currently, people just use planes to do their trips instead of trains if they want it fast enough.

Im pretty sure india is far away from bullet trains.

Given that even US doesnt have the need for it yet.
And only 1-2 countries in europe have HSR railway closest to bullet.
so eh...

The thing what people don't realize is that if this system is in place , then technically a person doing business in Lahore can travel and do face to face business in Karachi

or Lahore to Peshawar , or reverse

The flexibility is amazing

In Japan most workers don't just come from main city some travel average of 1.5 hours commute to work daily in their super fast trains

Imagine the flexibility to allow Doctors from Karachi , lets say able to work in Gawadar few hour trip if a doctor wants to open a practice in Gawadar area (As an example)

Lets look at the cost in Japan
Cost :
Osaka to Tokyo (3 Hour trip)
JP¥14,490

This is about mere 10,000 Rupee per person the Quality of Japanese Shinkensen I imagine is similar to Chinese offering etc

Presently Airlines charge about 16,000 Rupees in Pakistan for Karachi-Islamabad route
Not to mention how much "Fuel" is spent in Airplane flights and time wasted on airports

And there are limited planes , and some people don't like the hassle at airports

Pakistani Bullet train concept could perhaps offer
  • 8,000 Ruppe per person (Business Level 2)
  • 6,000 Rupees per person trips. (Business Level 1)
The cost alone would attract huge number of travellers

Better Option then Buses and Cars that take long time 4-6 days to reach destination

When you really visualize the potential you see Millions travelling on this platform
  • Business community mostly
  • May be tourist that want to travel to Karachi from Lahore , or other way around weekend trip
  • Or folks going for trip between Islamabad - Lahore , or going to vacation in Gawadar area etc the cost savings mean "PEOPLE travel more"
  • Eveny Upper middle class might use this service as a way to enjoy travel across the country

Domestic Local Plane System :

  • Few planes by domestic carriers
  • Hassle at airport
  • Costly
  • Not ideal for business community all the time
  • Wastage of Fuel / need to purchase fuel
  • Pay airport fees
  • What about them HIGH Prices for sandwhich or drink in airport pure theft

Bullet Train:
  • Same comfort as Plane
  • Lot of trains running daily with intervals
  • Run on Electricity from Nuclear plant , so no added burden on country GDP
  • Ticket prices drastically cheaper 30-40%
  • You enjoy the scenery of city as you travel , less noisy
  • Tourist love the ground travel they hate travelling in planes

But India is building a bullet train, that is certain. Whether or not India needs bullet trains is up for debate - which is to say whether there could have been better use for that money.

The deal and its contours have been finalized between India and Japan. The loan value and terms decided. The start of construction is around 2018.
The route is between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

.
The Railways Minister has acted wisely. Pakistan doesnt need the bullet train now. There are better uses for its money. India is building one and that is a very poor prioritisation.

Regards

I see Bullet trains more like technology advancement rather merely a transportation. Once you have mastered bullet trains smoothly it's obvious that many techniques will be involved to enhance performance of regular trains and tracks.

As far as India is concerned our average speed is just above 60 km/hr. High speed trains like Talgo, India's own Push and Pull engines are been tested to run on regular tracks. To clock up on 140km speed you need to straighten the curves for sustainable high speed. Works on underway.

Our domestic flight sector is a booming sector even when we don't have lots suburban domestic airports. We have planned to expand to all smaller cities operational with much smaller aircrafts because the demand is there. Super fast bullet trains offers more comfort with relaxed journey at low prices compared with domestic airlines. Trains price are constant you see. Small increase if you book a day before on Takal ticket. If 650 is a cost from Mumbai to Chennai (with tax) on thakal it will be 800 rupees. But in in domestic flights price vary on demand and days. If same Mumbai to chennai it cost me around 5500-7000 which may go up to 14-15k if I book hours before. So these are the people who will use bullet trains happily.

Same concerns about metros few years ago. But it's been used by all to cut through traffic. Today we have very vast parts of cities inter connected with metros in many states of India. So by 2020-2022 if Bullets trains are operational then I don't see any problem with demand. It will keep growing like metros as many state's politicians want to bring them to their states for votes.
