What's new

Pakistan can't afford to have bullet trains: Railway minister

In other words people boarding Khyber Mail at Karachi Can’tt at say 8 PM in the evening reach Lahore before Noon next day and Peshawar by 8 PM next day. The same on the Down trains the other way.

In 2004 it took me two days of a painful journey to reach Rawalpindi when I boarded Khyber Mail from Karachi to make it in time for Eid. The mistake I never dared to commit again. The tragedy of Pakistan Railways is they didn't maintain the better ones (like Karakoram) they had. If they could just maintain Taiz Gam and Awami standards may be gradually they could have gone for higher speed and more comfortable ones.

It is true it will take Pakistan railways some serious time to make it back to its old standards and then go upwards.

.
In order to shift to the new Faster Trains (For passengers)

Realistically we need seperate line (New Track) and that has to be reinforced from both side by fence so that no one comes in the path of a train moving 300km/hr or more

An earth quake resistant Elevated track could do the trick for Gawadar-Karachi and Karachi to Lahore and Lahore to Islamabad

maxresdefault.jpg

  • I would suggest same type of Palm Tree and track setup if possible

The path of the train has to be fully secured i.e no one Jay walking on the tracks , no vehicles or human or cows or animals

And this requires some side walls or smart usage of plant / shrubs or Tree structures

141031160454-high-speed-train-maglev-1024x576.jpg

The technological challenge we have to overcome is that we need to

a) Construct a suitable Track
b) Get it constructed , and reinforced from both side / and secured
c) Ideally elevated track (So no Tunnels or minimum Tunnel passage)

Certainly doable not completely impossible

The old Train infrastructure could just be converted to Freight Train service 100% Freight

If the Bullet Train concept is made "Seperate from existing Training Infrasturcture , that is the only way this project can materialize

6 Days between Karachi - Islamabad is Too Long of a trip with existing platform or by bus

Train that moves at 400 km/hr can do all that in 3 hours

New generation 500-600km/hr range Trains do that in mere 2 hours

The highest recorded maglev speed is 603 km/h (375 mph), achieved in Japan by JR Central's L0 superconducting Maglev on 21 April 2015

So with the Bullet train you can technically have breakfast in Gawadar , Lunch in Karachi, and Dinner in Lahore , Attend convention in Islamabad , and then sleep in Islambad

Now if you apply that ideal to Business community in Pakistan being able to travel between Lahore - Karachi - Gawadar at will by Train tremendous luxury to have (Not requiring tremendous amount of Fossil fuels)

These trains are Automated i.e the computer tracks all the trains on the tracks , so no chance of accident

We can power the trains with Electricity from Nuclear power plant so it is off the Grid (Hydro)

Chinese laborers work at the construction site of the third largest mosque in Algiers, and the largest in Africa, in 2016. The Djamaa El Djazair mosque was built as part of a complex that includes a one-million-book library, a Koranic school, and a museum of Islamic art and history.

China’s Undeserved Reputation for Building Bad Infrastructure in Africa
A China in Africa Podcast
  • by Eric Olander, Cobus van Staden, Jamie Farrell
  • August 17, 2016

The Chinese build more infrastructure than any other country (foreign or African) in Africa. Chinese banks are financing billions of dollars in new loans, aid packages, and other deals to build badly-needed infrastructure across the continent, and Chinese companies are doing most of the engineering and construction work. Between 2009 and 2014, the Chinese signed $328 billion in construction projects in Africa, an average of $54 billion a year, according to data from the international law firm Baker and McKenzie. This trend is widely expected to continue as Beijing turns to its new development bank, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), to focus more of its economic diplomacy around the world on building infrastructure.

Even though the Chinese are making an enormous contribution to Africa’s infrastructure development, there is a still a pervasive misperception that Chinese-built roads, bridges, and other construction projects are of poor quality. Media reports of Chinese-made roads that quickly fall apart in Ethiopia or hospitals built by Chinese contractors in Angola that never opened due to cracks, have come to dominate many peoples’ perceptions of the quality of work performed by the Chinese.

Visualizing China’s Aid to Africa

New research, though, demonstrates that those anecdotes do not reflect the reality about the building quality and reliability of Chinese construction work in Africa. Jamie Farrell, a Master’s candidate at Johns Hopkins University in the United States, researched how Chinese contractors, compared to those from OECD countries, performed in World Bank contracts in Africa.

The World Bank is probably one of the best sources for information to do this kind of comparison, given that China now wins more construction contracts from the Bank than any other country in the world. In fact, between 2007 and 2015, Chinese companies won almost a third of all World Bank infrastructure projects in Africa. So there is a lot of data to work with to compare both Chinese and OECD countries’ performance.

Jamie joins Eric and Cobus to discuss why the Chinese continue to have such a bad reputation for the quality of their infrastructure development work in Africa despite the fact that the data proves otherwise.
China is a developing country, and India is a super power. Our country is very bad, and we hope India can help us.
We have 1 billion 400 million people, and we hope India can help us to solve the problem of eating.
Hope that India can help us build space station , help us build high-speed rail , help us build Expressway, help us build nuclear power plant ,help us build hydropower station,
Help us build super computers.............

LOL so sarcastically are you saying India is developing country and China is a super power? Sarcasm apart. Are you saying China is a super power? Yes or No.

. .
Haha China is a emerging power for the last 50 decades. It's 2016... Are you a super power or not? Yes or No . Simple question why it's hard to answer. If I ask this same question to the American or Russian they will just answer with pride. If you ask me I will say No. We are not super power but in future yes we are now a growing power.

Is China a super power or not? Why are u ashamed to answer boy?

No. China is NOT a superpower. There is no self-claimed superpower. China is definitely a developing country with 150 million people still under poverty.
Please excuse our fellow countryman.
