Pakistan-Bangladesh relations thaw

Kid, did I not tell you to stick to cartoons and leave adult topics alone?

BD is behaving like an E Asian country rather than a typical S Asian country.

That is no surprise as it is unitary like them.

BD is doing and will do things that Pakistan and India cannot even dream to do.

Now it must be bedtime for you.

you behave as if BD has achieved something so unfathomable that the world hasn't seen the likes of before.

Maybe you need to get off of your high horse before you start comparing BD to Pakistan. Your economy doing a few points better doesn't makes BD some Utopia of development.

Fundamentalist sympathisers like you were calling me mad and a loser.
Fundamentalists sympathisers like me? When I showed sympathy to fundumelists?
How does this provoke islamist?
Did I say that it provoked Islamists, or is it any type of provocation? What are you talking I have no idea!

As a Pakistani who has lived in Bangladesh for Quite some time. the thing I’ve noticed is that prior to around 2015-2016, the general view of Pakistanis about Bangladeshis was very positive as compared to the general view of Bangladeshis about Pakistanis, Infact when I went there myself for the first time, I was excited because I thought I was visiting a “Fellow Muslim country”, needless to say I was quite disappointed with both the people and the country (as in economically and in terms of development, keep in mind this was in 2012)

But then we move to the recent years and things have changed drastically. And again my own observations are that the general Bangladeshi public is trying more to embrace Pakistan and accept it positively and they’re much more welcoming and nice now, I’m really thankful for that. (though their education system and government really teaches them otherwise, I would know, I’ve studied there as well…). As for economically/developmentally I would not say Bangladesh has “surpassed” Pakistan. But it’s definitely doing good, much better in Pakistan than some aspects (though some still lag so far behind that I’d call it utterly pathetic, though the same can be said about Pakistan).

Both countries are not really that developed yet, and especially not where they can start claiming that they’re better than the other, but there’s one thing about Bangladesh that always puts me off, they talk about tiny achievements like they’re something huge and act like they’ve broken multiple economical world records just by posting something slightly positive, hence the oft reported “Bangladesh doing better than Pakistan at XYZ”. (Pakistan is quite the opposite, they’re never happy, even when it’s a significant positive thing, they undermine it and just focus on the negatives, doesn’t really make them much better.)

As this thread is about Pak-BD relations, I guess I can say in short that Pakistan and most of its people (in my experience) view BD the same as they did when I went there in 2011 and 2012 for the first time. Meanwhile BD and it’s people have shifted from their opinions quite a lot, from negative to positive (except again, the government, which seems to be the one thing holding it back).

I’ve always felt that Pak-BD could be the thing that India-Pak can never become. A strong alliance that came to be by getting over differences of the past. One thing is for certain, both the nations people do not hold them back from becoming allies, other factors However do.

Is bangladesh better than Pakistan? Not at all.
Is Bangladesh unlike “all other” south Asian countries? Not at all.
Is Pakistan any better? Not at all.
Both counties aren’t good enough in the first place to be declared better or worst than they other, so instead of doing what they do (both mentioned above) they need to focus on getting their Sh*t together.

I’m sorry if this long post is a little off topic, but I’m not a frequent user and am not too sure how things here work, nor did I go into much detail about many things I see. Also remember that this is my opinion, if it offends you, don’t read it :D

Dude... BD is a unitary state with gdp growth up to 8% a year and this is sustained, unlike India which does a few years and then crashes down again.

Pakistan and India are multi-ethnic countries and that is one of the main reasons they are still 3rd world after 72 years of independence.

BD has been independent for just 48 years and Pakistan for 72 years and let us take a look a the all-important nominal per capita and growth rate estimates for this year of 2020:

BD: 2100 US dollar nominal and 7% per capita growth rate
Pakistan: 1400 US dollar nominal and 0% per capita growth rate.

You see how the countries are rapidly diverging? At this rate, what do you think the nominal per capita difference between BD and Pakistan would be by 2030? It would be 3 times in BD's favour but I think and wish that Pakistan should do a little better than currently.

BD is totally different to India and Pakistan as it is led by the dominant Bengali ethnic group, out of which 90% are Muslims, and it is just focused on industrial development. India and to a lesser extent Pakistan are mainly focused on holding their constituents parts together.

you behave as if BD has achieved something so unfathomable that the world hasn't seen the likes of before.

Maybe you need to get off of your high horse before you start comparing BD to Pakistan. Your economy doing a few points better doesn't makes BD some Utopia of development.

Let us take a look at estimated nominal per capita growth rates for BD, Pakistan and India for this fiscal.

1. BD - 7%
2. Pakistan - 0%
3. India - 4%

At least India is growing somewhat but Pakistan is not at all.:(

Please advise me of the good stuff you are smoking as I would like some?

:woot:
Why start personal attacks ? Discuss with logics and civilty. If I am wrong , show some premises. Show your knowledge on the issues in hand. This is how you are going to earn respect. Personal attacks using pseudonym online has no weight. If you are really such an authorative figure who can dismiss anyone with insults, show your real identity with pictures. We will be proud of talking to such an authority.

Give him a break, When you have been stuck at the very bottom of the muck washing dishes in "Indian" curry houses and finally manage to take a step up you'd think you're at the top of the world, Cos they know no better. Vindaloo boy here is a prime example, It's cute to see PDF Bongle's getting over excited for small things and lots of predictions but actually nothing significant on the ground.. They're still at the bottom of the pile (LDC)

Guess who is back?

How is the hard work to earn money to stop being slaves of China going?

Now please stop posting on PDF and get back to earning to become a free nation again.

Dude, you opinions are too out there.

At least come to a reasonable position and I can work with you.

You seem like the kind of guy that loves reading conspiracy theories without using analytical thinking to realise how bizarre something may be.

The movie, I am referring to, islamist claim it offended them. It nothing to about Islam or religion but based on a true life story of a female Bangladeshi surferer. So tell how does this insult Islam?

You better ask the fanatics how does it offends Islam. Why asking me?

Probably the movie doesn't offend Islam or anyone. But that doesn't mean that so called militant atheists who live on selling hate towards Islam doesn't say anything bad against Islam.

You have pretty much bleak chances of standing on feet, when from all sides you are bordering fascists.

Facts on the ground says otherwise.

Our politics is now a dictatorship but rooted in democracy. Evolution to full democracy will occur as in time as the population becomes educated.

Economy has reached take off point based on the internal dymanics as well as reasonable amount of FDI. We are fully integrated to the global economy and our footprint is expanding daily.

In every social and life standard barometers it is improving daily.

If standing in two feet is military muscle....BD has achieved enough to protect itself and is also improving dramatically.

But I judge being standing on two feet is a nation that can feed and educate its people. Where there is universal stability and internal cohesion. In all these BD is motoring along well.

My wish for BD is a confident united nation that pursues economic uplift of its people. A nation open to all and a responsible member of the global family. On that basis i would disagree with you that we can not stand on our own.

I do not wish BD to align with anyone as we our priorities do not converge with any one.

Keeping in mind the commonalities which both Bangladesh and India shares in cultures, locations, language, literature and politically- it is hard for Bangladesh to stay away from India. Now the only question will be how much Bangladesh can go independently in term of her relationship with Pakistan. It is the military in both counties who enjoys healthy relationship specially during the time of Zia and General Ershad. My personal experience with Bangladeshi people is very good generally both in Bangladesh or in outside Bangladesh.

Pakistan made a mistake by openly condemning the trial of razakars in Bangladesh. What Bangladesh does to it's own citizen should not have concerned Pakistan. That condemnation and Parliamentary resolution condemning the decision of trial process in Bangladesh give a very bad taste to Bangladeshi govt. and people. It clearly shows that, Pakistani establishment still does not fill guilty about it's action in 1971, rather condone those who committed atrocity upon common people of Bangladesh. If you can not show remorse of your wrong action then at least keep quiet. For the bad relation between the two countries, Pakistan is equally responsible.

Remember, Sheikh Hasina visited Pakistan in 1998 when she was PM in first term. Even after 2009, when she returned to power, did not show any hostility towards Pakistan either in words or deed. It is only after Pakistan decided to interfere in Bangladesh's internal affairs, that she and her govt. became hostile. You need to understand, 1971 genocide is an emotional issue for all the Bangladeshi. As a decent human being, you should not show any disrespect to that. If you can become that mature, then Bangladesh-Pakistan relation will flourish over times.

Dude All most every president or PM had visited BD in the past in order to form a good relationship but got cold response from Bangladesh. Regarding War Trial issue, I don’t know what purpose it has served in Bangladesh but in Pakistan’s case if you hang some one in your country by declaring him a Pak Agent then it become inevitable to respond. Sheikh Hasina only visited in 1998 to stop Pakistan from carrying out a nuclear tests and all we are hearing from the last one decade from BD is word Apology which will not take us both to anywhere.

@waz @Dubious Sir can we see some action for this insult our of nowhere!

BTW, bottom of the pile LDC country Bangladesh has never failed to repay her debt. Unlike this stronk mouth immigrant posters native country Srilanka. Who had to handover a naval port to China for failing to repay her debt.

Man, instead of acting stronk here in PDF just go back to your native country Srilanka from Australia and do something to help repay her debt. This will be a huge achievement...
