mbt3000 does have a better propulsion system than 99A.

for 99a which pla need mass to produce,mbt3000 drive system maybe a bit expensive.

i heard the engine has two version.one is 1500hp the same one in 99A,the other lowed its power to 1300hp+ but extendits life

I am talking to Major Jamal S Malik off ISPR about MBT 3000 either that man is hiding something or he has completely no idea about Tanks

you do not buy a system before testing it, IF mbt 3000 is yet to be tested here, how on earth can the deal be signed?

I was asking him that is MBT 3000 and AL KHALID II same Tank and it seemed he had no idea at all

they are different, one is MBT 2000 improved, made in china, the other is Alkhalid improved, made in pakistan, and meant to serve as the high end mbt in near future.

According to the info given in our sister forum, Pak Army has:

M47M
M48A5
T-54
T-55
Type 59
Type 60
Type 69
Type 85

Al zarrar
Al-Khalid
T-80UD

Having too many different kinds of spare parts increases inventory carrying cost and is onerous to maintain as you need trained manpower for each type. Therefore engineers are always trained to streamline the inventory and the stress is commonality of the spare parts.

I ask military professionals; shouldn’t Pak Army concentrate on a few types; say Al Zarrar, Al Khalid, T80-UD & MBT3000 instead of keeping such an assortment of the types noted above?

don't; know how reliable it is but a member name Arslanus in pakdef forum post this today :

One Fauji I spoke too: MBT-3000 is a new tank series different from Al Khalid, a new simultaneous type to AK tank, and initial trials have started under the codename of "Al Haider Tank".

That is very interesting news. This makes sense now...i always think AK2 is not same as mbt 3000...mbt 3000 is new tank.

Difference is Pakistani Al-Khalid (Modified Type-90II) while MBT 3000 is ZTZ99 tank series...Type 99G2

Although they look a bit same but are not same.

Third Generation: Type 90,90II, Type 96, Al Khalid - MBT 2000
Third Generation+(plus): Type 99A,99G Type 96A, MBT 3000

so,
type 99 -> type 99A -> type 99A2(type 10) -> VT4 (mbt3000)

type 90II -> mbt2000
(just some inser)|->AL KHALID -> AL KHALID 2

Al-Khalid, AK-1, AK-2 and the Desert optimized variant of VT-4 can replace ALL old tanks in our inventory.

Above two kinds of MBTs should be networked with T-80UD via Datalink along with other assets. If we could build up an inventory of fully netcentric fleet of 3000-4000 MBTs, it will not only be a revolution in our armor warfare capabilities but also would reduce costs greatly.

I think its going to be a simultaneous tank with AK-II as of depends what is the production rate of AK-II so If we are inducting both of them and both are coming from different sources that may increase the rate of production and availability to induct in our inventory to replace older types. Just my opinion :unsure:
