Pakistan Army testing MBT-3000 next moth ?

Al-Khalid, AK-1, AK-2 and the Desert optimized variant of VT-4 can replace ALL old tanks in our inventory.

Above two kinds of MBTs should be networked with T-80UD via Datalink along with other assets. If we could build up an inventory of fully netcentric fleet of 3000-4000 MBTs, it will not only be a revolution in our armor warfare capabilities but also would reduce costs greatly.

to be honest, i dont like the black smoke produced by VT-4 engine at certain intances, particularly when the tank was accelerating, something Chinese need to work on really. This is where the 6td series is unsurpassed, no such issue at all.

I dont understand why we would induct the MBT 3000

What advantage does it give us over AK 2

The only reason I cant think is to help replace our older tanks because we can only produce so many AKs

Would it hurt to have the same engine or the same brand of engine for both tanks?
I have stated before, that Pakistan must seek TOT for the Ukrainian powerpack. They are very good, reliable and the situation in Ukraine can escalate any time.

Man we are doing discussion for days without getting it confirmed from Army you or some one else from this forum needs to contact the Army or HIT and ask them are we testing this Tank and why if we are already working on AK-2 @DESERT FIGHTER @Dazzler @fatman17 and others so first at least get it confirmed

* At 52 tonne, a 6td-2 with 1200hp would produce a reduced output, between 21-22.5 hp/ tonne. Even in current Alkhalid-1 (49 tonnes), it gives just oer 25 hp/ tonne. Although it is not significant decrease, in thar region, you need all the power you can get :)

*IF such an arrangement could be made, it would be a delight, as far as i know, we offered a TOT but Ukrainians refused, they feared that we may sell it to China ;)

something is definitely "cooking"

Why exactly are we evaluating this tank when we our NG AL-Khalid is underdevelopment ???.

MBT 3000 is likely to fit in for hundreds of 59s, 69s, and type-85IIAPs, even Alzarrars. In recent interview, HIT chairman admitted that Alzarrar technology may not remain relevant in coming decade, the most appropriate solution to this is to induct a new reasonably priced advanced mbt which MBT 3000 is. Also, Alkhalid-2 may be a bit too expensive to replace all the obsolete fleet. Future fleet may be of Alkhalid xx, mbt 3000 an t-80uds upgraded. A very worthy fleet considering this region.

Even T-80UDs can be replaced by VT-4s, when we require them to. If we have only two MBT frames built at home, they would drastically reduce our operating costs resulting in a reduced price per unit, resulting in increased numbers of advanced home built tanks. We should focus on the long term goal of robust net centricity between AKXX and VT-4s.

Well a big order will reduce the costs plus it;ll be good for the local industry.

big order depends on exports.

there is a little problem, t-80ud is too good a system to be replaced by mbt 3000.

Can't we use the Al-Khalid (basic model) to replace the Type 59/69s instead of obtaining the MBT 3000 ?

And thus have a high-low of Al-Khalid 2s, Al-Khalids & T-80 UDs respectively ?

Good it is, however its also getting old. I got nothing against T-80UDs, i just want to see a fully networked MBT, APC, IFV force in the future.

nope, at $5 million a pop, even baseline AK is not feasible.

Different weight classes. VT-4 (MBT-3K) is more suitable for their replacements.

@Dazzler | I've been told that Pakistan has tested ZTZ-99 but its temperature tolerance among other things didn't impress PA. What upgrades would we need to make into the VT-4 design for Desert Optimization?

HIT is installing a customized version of Rehbar BMS in UDs as well. They did so with Alzarrars
