Pakistan Army testing MBT-3000 next moth ?

So we'll be operating Al-Khalids, Al-Khalid I's, Al-Khalid II's, MBT-3000's, AND Al-Zarrar's??

Isn't that too many different types??? Maintenance nightmare??

on the contrary, maintenance would be a delight for such a fleet ;)

Ok in what terms the ak1 better than the t-80?.

Counting.......

main gun, optics, fire control, datalink, battle management system, engine, transmission, command and control, cooling for crew and vetronics, armour etc. Almost all departments.

However, UD is being equipped with battle management system too so they become a part of the complete netcentric control system,

Also, there is a new APS system being tested on UDs, made by Nescom ;)

Pakistan uses more of a Passive protection system, detecting and locating laser sources. A true APS is one that can intercept incoming threat as well. @500 made an interesting observation in another thread. Varta APS increases detection of Al-Khalid as Two large boxes on it's turret would be brightly visible on thermal imagers.

they are used when needed, not activated all the time, the modulators that is.

no hard kill APS in the world has ensured acceptable success rate so far, including trophy and zaslon. performance is far from acceptable.

In recent Gaza conflict, Trophy generated a 99 percent success rate, There are videos of Hamas firing ATGM and RPG's and Trophy intercepting them successfully. Not a single tank got hit in this conflict

Actually Trophy performed beyond expectations both in tests (30/30 in US tests) and in combat (some 20 combat interceptions so far).

Varta protects only vs very limited number of threats (old ATGMs) and only in frontal arc, plus it exposes tank to night vision and thermals (thats like driving with flashlight at night).

There is too much smoke after the detonation at the end of the footage. It is not possible to assert that tank received no damage.

Possibly, It was discussed with Israel members. Probable explanation would be, ERA absorb the residual explosives minimizing damage from a direct hit to 80-90 percent thus leaving a scratch on tank.

Zionist occupation forces withdrew most of their columns out of Gaza or had them parked at the border while relied heavily on aerial and artillery shelling tells something. If the Trophy system was as successful as it is claimed (100%), the tanks would have moved deeper into Gaza.

One more question here. What if a few ATGMs are fired in succession?

Syed sahab, I guess you are not familiar with Gaza terrain. Gaza has narrow alleys where Merkava tank can't go

Hmm looks logical for pakistan to get the same.since they already use the older mbt 2000...plus its..another export centric model.
I highly doubt that it would be the mainstay of the PLA as i blv they are gonna build upon the ZTZ-99A and the new light tank seen on the trains enroute to tibet as shown below

You can clearly see that it exploded while still in the air.

Here is test in US:

Trophy intercepts, two flashes (countermeasure and exploding rocket):

The burning remnant of the rocket keeps flying towards the machine and Trophy countermeasure still on fire as well:

i insist, no APS to date has presented a 100% or even 90% results.

The reason is that Ukrainian Zaslon APS is perhaps most innovative of them all, tested by Army and performance was declared unsatisfactory. About Trophy, the test video represents test under "ideal" conditions.

Lastly, trophy performing "beyond expectations" agains ATGMs fired by Hamas etc. Not a good way to measure an APS system, how many types of ATGMs do they possess? Everyone knows.

@DESERT FIGHTER This is really old picture but the Tank looks the same so are you sure the pictures you posted are upgraded Al Khalid 1 ? @Dazzler

What about the new NESCOM APS? Will it be revealed at IDEAS? Is it hard kill or soft kill?

no it will not be revealed at IDEAS, i do not know whether it is a hard kill or soft kill APS. And it is primarily for UD and AK-2, still at early stages of development
