You mean the epics where people are flying around with mountains, and flashing arrows and other bullshit, and you are ascertaining the dates from these texts?

Everyone has given up their bizzare Pagan religions, the Vikings, the Greeks, the Romans, and have embraced the lessser stupid abrahmic religion. Only in the subcontinent is this bullshit still persisting.

No, not in this context, although, thanks to Pargiter, that, too, was made possible; this context is about language and about smart alecs with highly polished opinions who don't have a clue and get learned about all that they don't have a clue regarding.

.
@hellfire Tell the silly squitter to bone up on the subject and then return. He doesn't have a clue about the relative ages of the Vedas, the Puranas, the epics, like the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, or about the foundations of so called Sanskrit, of Prakrit and of the Apabhramsa languages,or of the underlying foundation beneath Indo-Aryan languages of the north, or the yet one layer deeper sub-structure beneath that.

Oh, you are already spoiling the fun sir!

But yes, you are right. Am going to be real busy coming few months so I should stop baiting silliness. I did lose my immense patience for silliness with the 'nuke' expert yesterday and in the process exposed myself a bit too much ....!!
All over to you sir, although like that character The SC, I have formed an opinion that it is a waste of time to indulge in futile discourse of religions with him/her as all religions are a matter of personal understanding and atheist pragmatics like me are rarely the correct people to even comment on the sensibility or lack thereof in them.

My candidate for the forum equivalent of the Universal Soldier. Never mind what it's called.

In Indian armed forces such uniqueness is given the code - CC or Double Charlie

What language? The earliest known inscription for prakrit is less than 300bc. Sanskrit doesn't even have an inscription at that time.

Like @Joe Shearer has suggested in #134 read up and first know the subject you are out to challenge ....

If you are confused between Prakrit and Pargiter .... I need to seriously introspect why I even engaged you

Thanks and all the best ...

Wait what?? I meant what I said - Prakrit and historical carbon dating.
And I suggest you understand what is going on before going on a tangent.

@hellfire

Tell the squitter that Panini's conversion of the Indo-Aryan branch of Indo-Iranian that went into the Vedas into the codified and 'settled' version called The Polished Speech took place in about 600 BC. Tell the half-read bozo that Panini's sutras are the first known examples of recursion, that turned up later in software programming, with the C language. Try to get it into his thick skull that scholars have reconstructed Panini's methods, and think, because he could not write things down, that it is thought that he used some of his students as note-pads during the construction of a sutra.

Tell him also that Prakrit developed side by side with Indo-Aryan as a derivative of its later stages, and in some ways preceded Sanskrit.

I am really SICK of these hedge scholars!

Took place is about 600 BC, and this magical date was determined by?
And still, this is not the vedas now is it.
And its not even written down!! Oh Goodness.

Fact: Earliest proven inscription of prakrit: less than 300BC

He is not talking about Akhand Bharat rather about Ghazwa-e-Hind.

In case you do not know, Hindu right and Muslim right of the subcontinent supported the partition.

It was secular congress alone which opposed the partition.

Want about systematic govt backed training of RSS, Shiv Sena & Bajran Dhal Extremists where they are taught to put Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan in Indian map to make it akhand bharat this is even taught to little kids in modi's gujrat i can show u the video if u want we in Pakistan are not taught about Ghazwa Hind we are not obsessed about it like majority of indians are about Akhand Bharat

This guy also threatened on Pathankot Inside Job that Pakistan will be dealt in 15 days WTF did u do jack shit now he is giving hollow threats again if u indians have any balls get to the point & declare war. This coward can only bark like dog & nothing more stop giving him the attention that this uptight arsse wants.

I found your post deeply irritating, but am not reacting to it as it is so clearly meant to provoke and annoy, rather than to lead to any further consideration of the subject.

What he may be referring to is the theory that Gandhi was an MI6 which is hard to prove either way and most probably theorized to malign him.

But what is very well known is the fact that he was associated to the Helena Blavatsky's Theosophy Society.

Where Pakistanis may go wrong is the fact that unlike Church & Islam which have issues with Order/Lodge/Society/Feemason philosophies, dharmic religions have no issues as dharmic religions do not have any mandated philosophies and are open to ideas and debate.

These semi-literates striking poses and postures and intoning incorrect opinions on everything in sight enrage me.

And any more references to my age will ensure that you have problems sitting down for the next month.

@hellfire You had better step in again, wherever in the world you are lurking. Explain to the specialist in squitting that
  1. The date for Panini, using the language used for Indo-Aryan verb forms and Sanskrit verb-forms, is estimated at 600 BC. Finding out how these dates were and are estimated ought to be the first task to be performed for anyone who wishes to get involved in these subjects.
  2. The Vedas predate Panini. It was the Vedic language that Panini codified. Before his codification, earlier versions of the Vedic language closely resembled Avestan Persian and drifted away gradually.
  3. The Vedas were not written down either.
Finally, please petition the moderators in suitable language to prepare a horse's arse test; those who on taking the test turn out to be horse's arses should not be allowed into the forum.

I had left PDF for some weeks, to recharge my batteries, to take stock of my personal and professional life, and to work out what to do in the near and middle future. That seems more or less settled, and it now remains to implement decisions that have suggested themselves. That may mean long absences, and occasional strolls through the threads, but that's as it should be, right? Tapering off is a good thing. In any case, I find that I am no longer able to adjust to ignorant chatter, and no longer feel like embarking on the nineteenth round of explanations of common topics that crop up, without fail, every time a bunch of new bozos comes on board.
