Pak accused of distorting Bush comments

Keys, this is kind of unexpected - just for the heck of posting post.

Now you are gladly (and may I add - ignorantly) assuming that I am not acknowledging ills of our past?

Well mate, you're wrong. (And I'm saving the explanation for some other thread.. trust me you wont have to search a lot to find me bashing the ills of our past/present/future.. )

And I further liked your other holier assumption that the acknowledgement should come first from me (esp when I was not the first to point fingers at this lil guy)?

I guess it comes from someone having the name "wisdom tree" and not living up to it......

. .

If you look closely, the refugees were being forced out of their country.

Obviously, someone will have to take them in.
As you can see, a global effort headed by the UN was carried out to accommodate these massive amounts of people.

This is very different from the Afghan war.The Afghans weren't being exiled. Pakistan and other neighboring countries were more than sufficient to shelter all the hostages. If anything, you can accuse Iran or Iraq or Turkey etc. for not taking them in. (if they didn't).

Heh...this story has come up in many newspapers. Not just Indian ones. So its not propaganda.

As far as the ISI is concerned, its involvement in terrorism and other naughty stuff has been documented by most intelligence agencies in the world.
So don't compare ISI and RAW here.

Though I must admit...ISI does shame its Indian counterpart

Does it even matter where this story has come up? All it takes is one handle and everyone else prints it off as well. As far as I am concerned, Pakistani FO is perfectly on the right to state what they have stated. If the Americans have a problem with it, they can publish the transcript of the call between Musharraf and Bush. I personally could not give two hoots to what some Indian journalist who was not even part of the conversation has to say or put a spin on this conversation (poor guy was probably feeling a bit left out).

As far as ISI is concerned, its been an asset for Pakistan and it should be used as needed. Other intelligence agencies have done far dirtier work than ISI.

the story wasn't cooked up by any Indian journalist. They simply quoted White House officials and built the story around it.
Are you implying that the officials were misquoted?

charter flights for 3 million people, yes it does make economic sense, as well it was completely within the capabilities of 1970's India,:hitwall:
